Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has reacted in very strong terms over the 11-page letter purportedly written by his daughter Iyabo Obasanjo and exclusively published by Vanguard yesterday where he was described as a liar, manipulator and a woman beater.

A call was put through to the former president yesterday by the editors of Vanguard to hear his side of the allegations leveled against him by his daughter and the conversation went thus:

DBanj-and-Genevieve-Nnanji

D’banj confessed in an interview months back that if you could pick anyone to get married to, that he would definitely pick Nollywood screen goddess — Genevieve Nnaji.
It seems the entertainer superstar is making plans towards that direction as he was caught with the Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji at the Gulder Club Ultimate party which held on Saturday, December 14th at Oceanview in Victoria Island, Lagos.
They really look good together though, would be magical if they actually settle down together.

DBanj-and-Genevieve

After giving seven years of his life as an apprentice to Chief Nwaneri, Nnabugo is left with nothing, not even the settlement allowance he is supposed to receive after serving. He is left with no other alternative than to steal from his boss.

The battle for the final five men and women continues again this week after the week’s voting could not present clear cut last five.
The results that came in were too close to call and there was no definite way the pendulum could swing, either for the final five or the next star to drop from the competition.
It has thus been agreed that the voting will continue for another week to see if there will be clear winners for the final phase of the competition. After the last five emerge the winners will be announced sometime in January.
At this point, the panel has concluded we should suspend publishing the positions of the last contenders for the Sexiest Man and Woman in 2013. The final result will be published in January. But the voting continues non-stop till Wednesday, December 19, 2013. and going by the experience of the game we all know a lot can happen between now and next week. Only your votes can make a difference!
For this reason and more, the names of the last 6 contenders shall be published in alphabetical order with no reference to how they stand in the game.

At Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi-Araba, only senior medical consultants, nurses, ward aides and other ancillary staff were observed attending to patients in the wards and the accident and emergency unit.
The institution’s outpatient clinics, which were open for the day’s business, were devoid of the usual activities.
A hospital source disclosed that contingency measures were in place to cushion effects of the strike.
At the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute-Metta, attention to patients was later suspended as doctors complied with NMA’s directive.
A similar scenario played out at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja, where dozens of patients that had booked appointments were told to go home after waiting for hours without getting attention.
In a reaction to the development, Chairman NMA, LagosState branch, Dr. Francis Faduyile, said: “It is a full blown strike. This is the first strike called by the NMA in the last 10 years.”
At the UniversityCollegeHospital, Ibadan, several patients, except those on emergency, were turned back and forced to seek alternative medical attention.

Dear Venerable Pastors:

After a lot of inner turmoil concerning the situation in Nigeria, I decide to write you this open letter. Each time I visit Nigeria I experience a deep inner threat as to the direction of the country.

I have deliberately addressed this open letter to the two of you out of more than dozen Nigerian Pentecostal and Charismatic Preachers with Mega Churches both at home and overseas. Three of you including Pastor Tunde Bakare in my view, are the only influential men of God in our country that Nigerians hold in awe and high esteem.

Pastor Bakare is not included in this letter because he is already a proven combatant in the war against oppression, corruption, and injustice that have become the trade mark of the Nigerian ruling class. You’re a target of this letter in order to conscript you as it were, into the people’s army of non-violence to be soldiers in the long running battle of oppression that has decimated Nigeria as well as her citizens.

Fifty three years ago, Nigeria became independent after a century of British rule. October 1, 1960 became a momentous occasion and a beacon of light and hope to millions of Africans and other oppressed people in the world.
Fifty three years after independence, Nigeria remains a symbolic elephant casting off the colonial yoke; and today is being replaced with a new authoritarian yoke of a representative democracy.

Since independence, the antecedents of Nigeria’s crisis has acquired a drama all its own. The historical genesis of the Nigerian crisis is well known to you. Therefore, I don’t intend to bore you with annoying repetition.

All doctors in public hospitals this morning retrieved their services.

R.Kelly has responded to the Village Voice shocking article about his history of alleged sexual abuse of teenage girls which centered around an interview with Chicago Sun-Times music journalist, Jim DeRogatis, who broke the story 15 years ago.

During an interview with Atlanta’s V-103, R.Kelly had this to say about the article;
"Well I feel like I got the football man, and I’m running towards the touchdown and if I stop and look back or mess around, I’ll get tackled. When you get on top of anything, it’s very windy, It’s about holding your balance once you get up there…Spiritually, I’m a climber.”
