Boko Haram gunmen returned late last night to Mafa and Ajiri villages in Borno State to attack the villagers but this time they met their match. Soldiers guarding the villages and neighbouring ones opened fire on the insurgents, killing at least 20 of them. But instead of retreating, eye witnesses said the Boko Haram members came in their hundreds and engaged the military men in a gun battle.

Fortunately the military men overpowered them, killed many of them and seized different calibers of machine guns and improvised explosive devices from them, this is according to the Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen Chris Olukolade. He said some soldiers, who were from the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, were injured in the battle but no soldier was killed.

The suspects are being sought for their alleged role in the torture and sodomy of three women in Ejigbo market in 2013; one woman died as a result of her injuries.
The main suspect is the coordinator of Oodua People's Congress (OPC) in Ejigbo area.  The police descriptions are as follows:

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, was today March 6th re-arraigned for alleged N100 million money laundering. Premium Times reports that Fani-Kayode told a Federal High court in Lagos that he was not guilty of all the 40 counts of money laundering instituted against him by EFCC

The trial judge, Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, fixed March 10, 17, 18 and 19 for the trial.
The EFCC is accusing Mr. Fani-Kayode, who was also a former Minister of Culture and Tourism, of money laundering. The commission had amended its 47-count charge, totalling N230 million, to a 40-count charge of N100 million.
Today Mr. Fani-Kayode sat patiently in the dock as the court registrar slowly read out all the 40 counts of money laundering against him. He responded “not guilty” to all of them

The woman who is accusing Fuji musician Obesere of raping her is claiming that the police is pressuring her to drop the case. She also said she's been getting death threats and has relocated to her village out of fear for her life and to continue treatment. Read the full report from Vanguard below...

A police source also disclosed that Obesere found it difficult to pressurize the DPO at Isolo into striking out the matter or persuade the victim to accept a settlement.
The source, who craved anonymity, also said Obesere contacted some top citizens to wade into the matter by persuading the DPO to soft-pedal on the  matter but they backed down when they discovered that the police have incriminating evidence against the musician.

A 400level Law student of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Oladipo Olalekan Ige, committed suicide on Monday March 3rd after allegedly being jilted by a girl.

Dipo was found dead in his apartment at the Asherifa area of Ile-Ife on Monday evening. He'd killed himself with poison.

The student who is said to be above average academically had been threatening to kill himself for weeks before he finally did. According to his friends, Dipo's girlfriend of almost a year broke things off with him in early February and all means to get her back didn't work.

Friends said he was a loner and always talked about being depressed and so didn't think the break up affected him so bad when he started to withdraw into himself. And nobody really took his threat to commit suicide seriously until his body was found in his off campus residence. Though some of his friends say his suicide had nothing to do with a woman. His body has been taken away to his home town of Ibadan by his family members. Suicide is never the answer!

TMZ is reporting that B.Howard could be Michael Jackson's son after DNA results were made public

From TMZ

There's a 99.9% chance a 31-year-old man is Michael Jackson's illegitimate son ... at least that's the claim after an alleged DNA test turned up a match.
According to the test results -- obtained by Alki David and his company, FilmOn.com - Brandon Howard is almost certainly Michael's son. David told TMZ Live he got MJ's dental impression from a Beverly Hills doctor that he got at an auction. The impression is 30 years old but David says its filled with DNA.
Brandon - who now goes by B Howard and looks and acts very much like Michael - was not present for the unveiling, but David says he had Howard's DNA and it matched up.
Who believes this? Continue...

David would not say which lab performed the DNA test, but says it showed a clear match.

Brandon's mom - Miki Howard - is a famous gospel singer who Michael knew. She went by the name "Billy" back in 1982. Interestingly ..a year later Michael released "Billie Jean," which included the lyrics, "Billie Jean's not my lover" and "The kid is not my son."

For B Howard's part - he's distancing himself from the whole spectacle, insisting he had nothing to do with it.

Haaretz.com reports that the man was convicted in October 2013 of intentionally attacking the girl after a love gone sour. Iran's high court wants the body parts the victim lost during the vicious attack to be removed from the perpetrator's body as payback and have defended their decision.

The national council said Iran's high court defended cutting off the body parts of those found guilty of a crime, and removing eyes, as part of the country's judicial system.

Who approves of this kind of punishment?

One of UK's most prolific sham brides, Raquel Neto Furtado De Andrade, 22, has been arrested and sentenced to two years in prison after trying to marry her fourth husband...a Nigerian.
According to the UK Daily Mail, Raquel, who had already married three Nigerians to help give them the right to stay in the UK was caught just minutes before she could marry her fourth husband.
Suspicious staff at the registry noticed she'd been there previously to wed other men and used the same wedding dress at each ceremony. And after she was arrested, records showed she hadn't even bothered to formally divorce previous husbands before marrying a new one...for money.
The fourth groom, a 32-year-old Nigerian (pictured above), was arrested with her and has been deported. UK Immigration is now looking for her three other husbands so they can be deported too.
As for Rachel, she is now behind bars serving a two-year sentence and will be deported to her native Portugal on her release from prison.

Coach Stephen Keshi has dropped skipper Joseph Yobo from  Nigeria’s World cup team to Brazil.

Dear NNPC,
Please forgive me and other Nigerians for helping you look for your missing $20billion instead of minding our 'own business '.

We were misled by the following :
1. Sanusi; who said "your money " was missing when you, "the owner" has not said "your money" is missing.
2. APC; who said the money must be accounted for when you "the owner " is not complaining.
3. House of Representatives ; who said you should account for all your income since the past 5yrs.

Now that you're angry with us and we have felt your anger in the petrol stations around the country (fuel scarcity) , the 3 groups that put us in this problem with you have not said anything and don't have any alternative.
We have no other choice but to ask you for forgiveness. Please give us fuel.

You are aware that your sister, PHCN is also angry with us for how she was sold and has since refused to give us power.

My fear is that if you don't do something urgent now that our brothers in the north are still busy killing people, our brothers in the south may use the small fuel left in their homes to set a few "things" ablaze and Fire Services don't even have fuel and water to respond.

We promise not to ask you about "your missing money" again if you can resume fuel supply.
God is watching all of us oh! Hmmmmm

Truly yours,
@okeybakassy
