Today Monday March 10th, popular football website Goal.com released their Rich List and declared Real Madrid and Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo as the richest active footballer in the world.

The World Footballer of the Year held off rival Lionel Messi in the 2014 Goal Rich List with an estimated wealth of €148million. Retired footballer David Beckham was the 2013 Goal Rich List winner but since he's retired from football, he's no longer eligible to be put in the list.

Messi comes second with an estimated net worth of €146million followed by Eto'o with €85million then Wayne Rooney with €84million, and Kaka rounds off the top 5 with €82million.

This Malaysian plane disappearance has to be the most mysterious incident that has happened in recent history. Late yesterday, relatives of some of the passengers on board the vanished aircraft who are lodged in a hotel, claimed they were still able to call the cellphones of their missing loved ones.

 Washington Post reports that some relatives said that they were getting ring tones and could see them active online through a Chinese instant messenger service called QQ. One man in particular claimed he could see that the QQ account of his brother-in-law showed him as online, but when he sends a message, he gets no reply. The calls have also not been picked up. This is scary!

Motorists, mostly trailers and commercial vehicles, were on Monday brought to a complete halt in Birnin-Gwari town for eight hours by a popular protest against the ineffectiveness of the government of Kaduna State governor Mukhtar Yero over security matters.
As early as 6.00am, people from Birnin Gwari had blocked the interchange road access heading to Kaduna and Lagos, as well as Funtua in Katsina State, condemning the weak approach of the governor to the challenge of security of life and property.
They cited, among others, Sunday evening’s brutal killing by armed robbers of a 27-year old lecturer at Kaduna State University, Abubakar Shehu Yahaya (the son of the Chief Imam of Birnin-Gwari) on the Birnin-Gwari Kaduna road.

Following the recent attacks Boko Haram members on the residents of Borno state, the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn-Garbai, has directed all residents of the state, both Christians and Muslims, to embark on a 3-day fasting and prayer period to seek the face of God over the unfortunate incidents that have befallen the state in recent times. The fast is to start today, Tuesday 11th.
In a statement released today from the Shehu's office, the monarch said the prayer session is also to seek for God's mercy on the land.
"I am appealing to all residents of the state to observe a three-day fasting to seek Allah’s mercy toward ending the crisis facing us. I believe we should continue to seek for Allah’s help toward restoring peace in the state" the statement read.

According to a report by Punch, a nursing mother in Akwa Ibom named Imaobong Udoh (pictured above) has been arrested for allegedly selling her 3-day old baby girl for N260,000. Full report below

Also arrested along with Imaobong were four persons for allegedly participating in the theft of the baby.
They are the buyer, Mrs. Regina James; her husband, Mfon James; the traditional birth attendant who delivered the baby, Mrs. Comfort Henry; and Mr Emmanuel Okon, a homeopathic doctor, who arranged the sale.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Gwadabe, said in Uyo on Monday that the father of the baby had reported the theft to the police, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

Yesterday a Vietnamese search team said they had found what they believe is part of a door
and an airplane's tail, but today, the Malaysian Civil Aviation Chief said it was a false alarm as nothing from the missing plane has been found. 

"Unfortunately
we have not found anything that appears to be objects from the
aircraft, let alone the aircraft. As far as we are concerned, we have to find the aircraft, we have to find a piece of the aircraft if possible.' he told a news conference today.
It's also been revealed that aside from 2 passengers boarding the plane using stolen passports, 5 other passengers checked on to the flight but did not board the
plane. Their baggage was removed before the plane departed. 



Dozens of ships and aircraft from seven countries are searching the seas around Malaysia and south of Vietnam, but so far nothing. 

People are speculating that maybe the plane was hijacked, flew under the radar, to land somewhere. If this happened then it means the passengers are alive somewhere, but this theory is very unlikely.  Continue to see photos of some of the passengers on the missing plane...

39-year-old trader, Okonkwo Nwachukwu (pictured above), has been arrested by the Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, after it was discovered that he had opened 25 savings accounts with Zenith Bank, under different identities.

The Special Fraud Unit spokesperson, DSP Ngozi Isintume-Agu, said the SFU Commissioner of Police had received a petition from the bank on February 12, 2014.

"The petition alleged that Nwachukwu had appeared at the Amuwo Odofin branch of Zenith Bank to open a savings account and presented an already completed savings account opening package with the name, Obiozor Ifeanyi, and identified himself as such with a National Identity Card.
“While the Customer Service office was checking the documents, Nwachukwu allegedly went to the Marketing Unit and collected another savings account opening package and completed same with another name, Ogueji Nnamdi. He allegedly returned to the Customer Service Desk and presented same for account opening with another National Identity Card bearing Ogueji Nnamdi.”

 The last note by a part-four law student of Obafemi Awolowo University, who allegedly committed suicide, Dipo Ige, was that his books should be buried with him.
Ige was said to have committed suicide in his private hostel penultimate Saturday at Ashiefa, Ibadan Road, Ile-Ife and was buried at his hometown in Iree, Osun State on Sunday.
While controversy still surrounds Ige’s action, the deceased in the note also cautioned that his girlfriend should not be blamed for his death.
