A mob in Afghanistan, punched, kicked, stoned, and beat a woman to death and then set her body on fire and threw it into a muddy river in Kabul yesterday Thursday March 19th for burning pages of Islam's holy book near the Shah-e Doh Shamshira shrine and mosque and it was all caught on tape.

The woman was later identified as 27 year old Farkhunda. Her parents later told police that she suffered from mental illness for many years and that she had not meant to burn Islam's holy book

According to a LIB reader who is a Corper in Kebbi state, he said Corps members are being taught how to use the m60 guns for protection because of the insecurity related to the forthcoming election.

The management of Folio Communications Limited, owners of Daily Times of Nigeria Plc, have threatened to drag online news portal, Premium Times to court over the use of the word 'Times' in its brand name. According to a letter sent to Premium Times management, the solicitors to Folio Communications Limited, Elias Mordi & Co, cautioned Premium Times to desist from using the word 'Times', adding that Daily Times has since inception enjoyed goodwill from people who have come to know it with the word 'Times.

The lawyers said the continued use of the word by Premium Times would amount to them enjoying their clients goodwill which they took years to build...

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Attahiru Jega says the electoral body is ready to conduct the general elections which starts next week Saturday March 28th. At a meeting with some Civil Society bodies in Abuja today, Prof Jega said the time provided by the postponement has helped the commission articulate its plan for the conduct of a successful election
"We believe very strongly that the period of the extension has been put to good use and it has added value and obviously we would be able to do a much better election and it also enforced our belief that the elections for 2015 will be remarkably better than the 2011 elections and in fact we believe it will be the best election in Nigeria's history" he said
He however raised concerns over the security of INEC staffs and NYSC members who would be working during the election days
"Clearly security remains an issue of concern particularly securing the staff of INEC as they are being deployed or as they are conducting the elections and also protecting the election environment" he said

Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomole has ordered a full scale investigation into the death of Chibuike Edeh, a staff of Protea hotel in Benin city, Edo state, who was arrested for stealing N48,000 belonging a guest at the hotel on March 14th. He later died in police custody.

Aisha Buhari, wife of the APC Presidential candidate, Gen. Buhari says former Lagos state Governor and one of APC's chieftains, Bola Tinubu jettisoned his personal interest and allowed her husband run as president for the sake of Nigeria. She said this at the 14th town hall meeting of the Lagos Central senatorial district hosted by Sen. Remi Tinubu (APC senatorial candidate in Lagos yesterday March 18th.
"My husband, General Muhammadu Buhari has been contesting presidential elections for over a decade now, but this particular election is unique because our leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu jettisoned his personal interest for the sake of Nigeria.” she said

The Federal Government has announced the reduction in electricity tariff by half. Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Sam Amadi, who made the announcement in Abuja today March 17th, said after a review of the tariffs being paid by Nigerians, the commission agreed to slash it by half. The reduction takes effect from the end of March.

He said the commission agreed to remove the Multi-year tariff order, MYTO 2.1 following multiple petitions and complains from Nigerians especially members of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria who said inclusion of the MYTO 2.1 caused them to spend more on their businesses and in some cases loss of jobs.

Former Ivorian First Lady Mrs Simone Gbagbo has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by an Ivorian court for organizing post election violence after her husband, Laurent Gbagbo lost out in the 2010 Presidential elections in Ivory Coast. 

In a unanimous judgement today March 10th, the court said Mrs Gbagbo together with her husband's supporters, after rejecting the results from the elections that saw her husband's main rival, Alassane Ouattara declared winner of the election, carried out activities that undermined the state security which left over 3000 people dead.

Boko Haram members today attacked residents of Gombi in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State. According to the residents, the sect members gained entrance into their community through Shani, a border town between Borno state and Cameroon. Casualty figure from the attack is yet to be ascertained but military sources say Nigerian troops succeeded in the battle with the militants


Cristiano Ronaldo and his ex-model girlfriend Irina Shayk broke up in December 2014 after dating for five years and it looks like it ended in bad blood. Irina Shayk took a swipe at her ex, saying she she felt 'ugly standing next to the wrong man'.

In an interview with Spanish magazine Hola, Irina spoke about her ideal man. She said;
