Residents of Ogunfunmi Street, Akobi Crescent Surulere, Lagos on Tuesday, dragged a school teacher, Benedict Ekpenyong, a teacher in Akintan Grammar School on Akintan Street, Surulere, to the police station for allegedly locking up a female pupil in his room and attempting to rape her.
It was learnt that neighbours saw Ekpenyong take the 14-year-old pupil, who was also a pupil of Akintan Grammar School and only as Blessing to his apartment at about 12pm and heard the bolt to the door lock.

The House of Representatives says its call for censorship on social media is for telecommunications company to develop applications or softwares that will pull down all pornographic materials on Nigeria's social media. A statement from the House reads
"The House has prevailed upon the telecommunications service providers to either develop or acquire software that will block or filter-out certain images or contents that violate both moral and religious values in Nigeria.
Passing a resolution on a motion moved by Hon. Johnbull Shekarau calling for the censoring of social media, he prayed the House to urge the telecoms service providers to initiate a take-down procedure that will enable a swift removal of any pornographic materials when notified by network users. He advised that this could be done by dedicating a hotline that will receive and treat complaints.

After five months without ministers, President Muhammadu Buhari has finally inaugurated 36 ministers that were recently screened and cleared by the Senate.

The 36 ministers were also given their portfolios as the former governor of Lagos state Babatunde Fashola stole the show with his appointment as the new minister of power, works and housing.
The presidency had earlier confirmed that the inauguration of the ministers will be carried out on Wednesday, November 11.
From a statement released by Femi Adesina, the special adviser on media and publicity to the president, it was revealed that the ministers were allowed to invite only two guests for their inauguration.
However, just before the ministers were given portfolios, they took the oaths of office in the council chambers of the Presidential Villa.
The swearing-in ceremony lasted two hours, 30 minutes. It began promptly at 10am and ended at exactly 12.30pm.

According to sources in the state house, the closed door meeting between former president Goodluck Jonathan and President Buhari yesterday lasted for about 5 minutes. Jonathan is said to have arrived at the state house in a black SUV at exactly 2pm, went straight to the banquet hall where he met Buhari and came out 5 minutes later. He reportedly left the state house premises at exactly 2.07pm without talking to any journalists.

A Kogalymavia passenger plane carrying 224 people has crashed in Egypt's Sinai penunsula. The airliner took off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik this morning, and was heading for Russia, according to aviation sources, when it disappeared from radar. It's believed the plane was mainly carrying Russian tourists.
The plane was carrying 212 passengers and 7 crew members. 17 of the passengers are children.
Airbus A321 left Sharm-El-Sheikh for St. Petersburg with flight number 7K9268. It belongs to airline Metrojet and was 18.5 years old and was descending with about 6000 feet per minute just before signal was lost. The captain told ATC after departure of a technical fault and requested a route change.
Local media says a recovery team is now at the site of the crash.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano yesterday, The Director-General of the Board, Dr Abba Sufi, said that Kano State Hisba Board has started preparations for the mass wedding of 2,000 widows and divorcees in the State.

Sufi said the preparations was due to the directive given by Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje.
