Heavy rain has caused serious flooding in some parts of the UK. There is a major disruption to the rail network, with many routes blocked by water and a number of London Underground lines have been suspended due to the rising floods. It has also affected homes, commercial properties, roads and even vehicles have been trapped. Some properties were reportedly struck by lightning, which also brought down a tree. The London Fire Brigade have appealed to people to only dial 999 "where there is a risk to life or property" after receiving twice as many weather-related emergency calls than they've ever handled in 24 hours.

Suspected assassins have killed a 70 year old woman identified as Betsy Egbeobamwonyi, who was found with a slit throat and many stab wounds at her one room apartment at Oseye Street, off Upper Sokponba Road, Benin city Edo state this morning June 22nd.

The International Criminal Court has sentenced ex-rebel leader and former Congolese vice president Jean-Pierre Bemba to 18 years for murders, rapes and pillaging committed by his troops in the Central African Republic more than a decade ago.
The verdicts announced today Tuesday, June 21, focused on the actions of his troops, as Bemba commanded a private army of 1,500 men who intervened in the neighbouring Central African Republic's civil war.

President Buhari has appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotum Idris, as the Acting Inspector-General of Police. Immediate past Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, retired from office today after he reached the mandatory 60 years retirement age. Arase and Idris are currently in a closed- door meeting with president Buhari at Aso Rock, Abuja.

 
The family of late Nigerian music producer and artiste,  Babatunde Okungbowa, aka  OJB Jezreel  who passed on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 have released details for  his final burial rites. The respected music producer and singer battled with Kidney problems since 2013. 
He was consequently was flown to India for a transplant in 2013, after the successful surgery, OJB Jezreel, showered praises on his first wife, Mama J, for being there for him and donating one of her kidneys to save his life and also on the people, Fans and Friends that gave supports monetarily and otherwise.
