A firefighter from the airport civil defence died saving lives during the firefighting operations after an Emirates aircraft caught fire while landing at Dubai International airport on Wednesday.

Jassim Eissa Mohammed Hassan Al Balochi was buried today in Al Salehiya cemetery, Ras Al Khaimah. Shaikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah attended the funeral.


At least 30 people have been reportedly killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Kodomun Community in Demsa Local Government of Adamawa State. The attackers razed down majority of the settlement and killed mostly children and elderly who were unable to run for safety.

The initial casualty figure was 20 but youths from Kodomun who brought out the corpses of the slain members of the community from the bush said the recovery of the additional bodies had raised the death toll from the attacks to 30.

One of the victims, a woman in her 60s, was treated at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 19-year-old man was arrested after a Taser was discharged by an officer. The Metropolitan Police says his mental health is a “significant factor” in the events.

A former psychology professor, 41 year old Norma Patricia Esparza, was sentenced to six years in prison on Friday for the 1995 murder of the man she says raped her when she was a college student in California.
Esparza pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter two years ago in a deal with prosecutors.

In 1995, Esparza reportedly pointed out Gonzalo Ramirez at a bar to her former boyfriend Gianni Van and two others followed and rear-ended Ramirez in his vehicle, then attacked, kidnapped and killed him, dumping his body on the side of a road in Irvine, authorities said.

Kris Jenner's family rushed to be by her side as she was treated by paramedics at the scene of a nasty car crash involving her one-week-old $250k Rolls-Royce near her Calabasas home. Her daughters Khloe and Kylie, son-in-law Kanye West and boyfriend Corey Gamble arrived at the scene after they were informed about her accident. A 26-year-old barber named Zuri, mysteriously passed away in Lagos after stepping out to sneeze but ended up vomiting blood. According to journalist Femi Owolabi, because of the amount of blood around the young man's body, the crowd which had gathered did not risk coming close and were unwilling to assist in taking him to the hospital. When a truck was eventually used to convey Zuri to a private hospital, they were not allowed to go in. A doctor came out to check the body, pronounced him dead and ordered that they take the body away immediately as he was not their patient. Narrating what happened, Femi said;

A Nigerian woman's only son was stabbed to death in Northridge, Los Angeles, California and a relative to the woman is claiming that the police is not doing anything about it. ABC news reports 21-year-old Jamal Oladapo, a Birmingham High School graduate and student at L.A. Film School, was found stabbed to death in the underground parking garage of the Merridy Village apartment building.

Jamal who lived at home with his mother, was studying to become a producer and also helped his mother with their family business.

A man believed to be a street beggar in his 20s, got electrocuted after scaling an electric pole ahead of a speech by suspended Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff. The unnamed victim, who was wearing just a pair of beach shorts, appeared to be entertaining the crowd, as they waited for at the political rally in Aracaju, Brazil. After spending several minutes clinging to the pole and waving a flag, he ignored warnings from bystanders to get down and climbed further up the pole towards the danger area where the electricity cables were attached.
