Police officers armed with pepper spray and batons marched onto Cannes beach, Nice, France on Tuesday and ordered a Muslim woman wearing a burkini to strip off, and after she did so, wrote down a fine for her.

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has ordered the return of the 15-year-old girl, Uzoamaka Chukwu,who was stripped and tortured early this month by some people in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area.

Umahi, who gave the order on Sunday when he visited the family of the teenager at Umunaga Uburu, said her return would enable state government take full responsibility of her rehabilitation & training.

The Bengaluru police on Monday, August 22, arrested a Nigerian national for alleged drug peddling and recovered cocaine worth Rs lakhs.

The Imo state police command on Monday, August 22, rescued a 3-day old baby stolen by unknown child thieves barely 48-hours after his birth at the Chukwunonso Maternity in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area.
While reuniting the baby with his parents, Mr and Mrs Oluebube Ekwedike from Umuezealaowerre Ehime Mbano LGA, at the command headquarters in Owerri on Monday,  the Imo State Police Commissioner, Taiwo Lakanu, said that after the issue was reported to the police, the men of the command swung into action and arrested two suspects who were at the verge of selling off the baby.


A North Carolina state trooper shot dead a deaf and mute man who was speeding. The man, Daniel Kevin Harris, a 29 year old father to a 4  year old was trying to communicate with the trooper using sign language when he was shot and killed not too far from his home in Charlotte on Thursday evening.
Police say state Trooper Jermaine Saunders tried to pull Harris over for a speeding violation on Interstate 485 at around 6.15pm, but the driver led authorities on a brief pursuit before he finally stopped.

Joachim Chinakwe, the man who named his dog Buhari, failed to meet bail conditions after he was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ogun state.
Joachim who is a trader, was said to have behaved himself in a manner that could cause breach of peace by naming his dog Buhari and parading same at the Hausa section of Ketere market in Sango area. Hence his arrest by the police. He has now been remanded at the Ibara Prison.

Eight persons were burnt to death yesterday following the religious crisis that broke out at the Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata-Mafara in Zamfara state.
