After 27 year old Julia Martin from Detroit broke off her engagement six months ago to her boyfriend of three years, she knew the right thing to do would be to return her engagement ring.

According to police, when Julia's ex fiancé, 35 year old Rodney Harvey came over to her apartment on the premise of collecting the ring last Friday night, he forced open the door when she answered the door and stabbed her repeatedly before jumping to his death from her apartment window.

Cross River State Police Command on Wednesday, October 12th, paraded 22 suspected criminals and foiled kidnap of a woman in Calabar. Deputy Commissioner of Police administration in the command, DCP Tunde Gbolarumi told newsmen in a press briefing that the 22 suspects paraded, comprised of gangsters, kidnappers, one chance syndicates and armed robbers.

A 32 year-old Nigerian woman, Gift Daniel is now facing deportation from Canada after an Ottawa court overturned a decision to grant her a refugee status because of a misspelling of her name in a government birth document from Lagos.


What was unusual with the government’s appeal is immigration officials did not challenge Daniel’s claim that she was a victim of female genital mutilation and domestic abuse, but contested her credibility on the grounds that she is not who she claims to be.

Over 30 suspected cultists reportedly attacked a police patrol team at Eyamba Street, Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River state at about 9:30p.m on Tuesday, October 11th.

A cleaner was doing her regular clean-up this morning, October 12th, at a women's toilet at Saphil railway station in Thailand when she discovered the tiny body of a newborn baby dumped inside the toilet bowl. The dead baby boy is believed to have been left yesterday night. Authorities are currently investigating to find its mother. More photos after the cut.

The world's most popular transgender Caithlyn Jenner will have no choice but to use the men's bathroom if she comes to North Carolina according to the state's governor, Pat McCrory.
McCrory, on Tuesday defended the state’s anti-LGBT law, and blamed “liberals” for “a major change in culture” that has forced Republicans to respond with the legislation forming an anti-LGBT law. 
North Carolina’s anti-LGBT law passed in March, removes anti-discrimination protection for LGBTQ people and mandates that people use the public bathrooms that correspond to the sex they were assigned at birth.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Cross River State Command, has arrested two suspected drug barons, 55 year old Azuka Emmanuel and 23 year old Ndubuisi Okafor, with 76.050 kg of Methamphetamine and 100.1kg of Ephedrine, worth N2.5 billion.

They were arrested while traveling on Yahe-Ikom Trans International Highway with the banned substances concealed in cereals, foodstuff packs and five industrial fillers. According to the NDLEA Commander in the state, Anthonia Edeh, the suspects were arrested during a stop and search on a commercial bus they were traveling in. More photos after the cut.

A man named Engr Godwin Apple is leading a campaign to get justice for a girl brutalized by the wife of a lecturer at Federal College of Education, Obudu, Cross River state (FCE Obudu). The woman, Ijeoma Oha, pictured (left) with her husband. Dr Amechi, tortured the girl (right) constantly but finally met her waterloo when a vigilante group intervened. According to Engr Godwin, the girl was heard crying in the night during the torture.
"It attracted the attention of the Vigilante group in the area there in Obudu, and they rushed immediately only to find the little girl in a very weak point, almost out of life.

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested 12 suspected criminals for kidnapping, armed robbery rape and cultism. While parading the suspects, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Murtala Mani, who spoke through the Command's spokesperson Cordelia Nwawe, warned that no form of criminality would be condoned in the state.

A Thomson Reuters Foundation investigative team spoke to more than 10 Nigerian women duped into giving up their newborns to strangers in houses known as "baby factories" in the past two years or offered babies whose origins were unknown.

Maria said she learned her newborn daughter had been given up for adoption for which she received 20,000 naira. And Maria is far from alone.

A motorcyclist, popularly known as Okada rider was allegedly shot and killed by a policeman along Aliade-Awajir Road, Benue State. The trigger-happy cop was arguing with another Okada rider over alleged N50 bribe when the deceased identified as Friday, arrived the scene to settle the matter.

The officer reportedly got angry, pulled out his gun and shot Friday point blank on the forehead. He died instantly.

A 23-year-old Nigerian man has been sentenced for stabbing a new father to death in front of his home in Islington, north London, in December last year.
Femi Tinchang Nandap, who had over stayed his student visa pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility at the Old Bailey on Monday, October 10th, 2016, following the fatal stabbing of 41-year-old renowned lecturer Jeroen Ensink, who was a lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

The boss of a company selling home brewery equipment in Tongzhou District, Beijing, China, reportedly forces his 'female' staff to kiss him before resuming for work every morning. The photos which went viral on social media, show the workers line up to kiss him on his lips.

According to reports, although the women were initially reluctant to attend the morning ceremony, almost all of them have since given in to their boss' demand. Only two female staff members absolutely refused and resigned from the company.

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a robbery gang which specialised in snatching bikes from owners in Ogbomosho town, after luring them to deserted areas in the guise of being a passenger. The bike-snatching gang led by a physically-challenged man identified as one Sunday Olojede, aka Oba Aro. According to Crime Reports, 38-year-old Olojede was a terror to motorcycle riders.

Three armed robbers and a mechanic simply identified as Nwamba, lost their lives after a grey colored Hyundai ix 35 with registration number SMK 485 CM which they had earlier stolen, skidded off Eko bridge by Iddo terminus in Lagos and landed on a mechanic who died instantly yesterday October 9th.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was suspected to have been snatched at gun point with five suspected armed persons. Three of the suspected armed robbers died immediately; one escaped with injury while the fifth person was taken to the Hospital for treatment by LASAMBUS.

There was a serious fire incident at the Library Complex, Naraguta Campus, University off Jos on Saturday 8th October, 2016. It affected the Main Library in the Complex, the Faculty of Social Sciences and some Departments in the Faculty of Management Sciences.

Registrar Monday M. Danjem issued a statement announcing that all 2015/2016 Session First Semester Examinations taking place on Monday, 10th October, 2016 have been postponed.
