Seventeen year old Gabe Adams was born in Brazil but was
abandoned at birth due to a congenital defect called Hanhart syndrome in which
a person is born with malformed arms and legs. His biological mother did not
think she'd be able to take care of him, but a couple from Utah knew they had a
place in their family for him. Though Adams' adoptive parents had their
concerns, it did not stop them from ultimately going all the way to Brazil to
welcome him into their family. And what a family - Janelle and Ron Adams have
13 other biological children.
Crediting his parents for being able to dance in a way that
has wowed his audiences, friends, and family members, Adams couldn't help but
gush about the pair who took him in.
Adams made the dance team his sophomore year at Davis High
School and says that they made him feel just as welcome as any other dancer.
"My teammates treated me like a normal person and
didn't look at my disability, just my ability to dance and be part of a
team."

Adams also says that once other students would approach him
and want to know more bout his story after seeing him perform. Despite whatever
hardships Adams may face unlike any "normal" teen, he always seems to
have a smile on his face and continues to commit himself to dance. While he
likes break-dancing and hip hop, Adams says he also enjoys contemporary dance.
"I love how I'm able to express myself in so many ways
through movement," he says of his love for the art. "I feel
completely different when I'm dancing. I'm so grateful for all the happiness it
has brought into my life."
