The worst thing about natural waters on the East Coast is that they’re
usually pretty murky, so it’s a gamble as far as what creatures you’ll
encounter.
But what one man and his son found in a lake in southern New Jersey will send you running from natural waters this summer. Stick to the pool, kids.
While fishing in Swedes Lake, New Jersey, Ron Rossi and his son caught a bizarre specimen that was unlike any freshwater fish they’d ever seen. Things got even weirder when they noticed its human-looking teeth.
The fish is called a Pacu, but it’s affectionately known as the
“Nutcracker” in South America, because…well…it has a penchant for
chowing down on male swimmers who prefer to hang loose.
