The kidnappers according to eye witness report numbered about 12 shot the radio presenter in the leg before taking him away in his private Mitsubishi Endeavor Sport Utillity Vehicle with registration number LSD 871 CM at about 3 am.

Ten students of Government Day Secondary School in Kankara town in Katsina state yesterday lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident when a truck loaded with timber which they boarded to help get them to school had a head on collision with another truck which was coming from the opposite director.

10 of the students died on the spot while four were critically injured. Their corpses were taken to the Kankara General Hospital. Activities at their school was suspended to mourn the dead students. May their souls rest in peace..Amen.

 The Nigerian military yesterday shut down all telecommunication services in Borno state as it takes on Boko Haram activities. Residents in the state woke up yesterday to a "No Service" signal on their phones.
Confirming the shutdown, spokesman of the 7-Division of the Nigeria Army, Muhammed Dole said its a military move necessary under the present circumstance.

    "We all know the inconveniences that this might have brought, but it is a necessary and temporary measure that will not take long time” Dobe said.

He said its a sacrifice everyone including the residents have to make in the fight against Boko Haram

Uli who is one of the powerful figures in German football was charged and sentenced today Thursday March 13th by a German court

He was allowed to walk out of the court today because he has one week to decide whether to appeal the verdict.

 US investigators officials believe that Malaysian Airlines flight 370 remained airborne for four more hours after vanishing from its last recorded position - raising the startling prospect the plane was hijacked.

Officials suspect that the plane flew for a total of five hours based on data automatically downloaded and sent back to Rolls Royce - the manufacturers of the Boeing 777's engines.

US counter-terrorism teams are now pursuing the astonishing possibility that the plane and its 239 passengers was diverted to an undisclosed location 'with the intention of using it later for another purpose'. Leader of the pro-Biafran group, Biafra Zionist Movement (BZM), Benjamin Onwuka yesterday faulted the Enugu state Police Commissioner, Mohammed Adamu over his claim that last Saturday’s attack of the Enugu Government Houser was carried out by members of the outlawed Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), saying it was actually his group that carried out the operation.

Barrister Onwuka who addressed a news conference at the NUJ, Press Centre, Enugu said contrary to media reports, the invasion of the Enugu seat of power was ostensibly to hoist the flag of the Republic of Biafra at the Government House which he said is the headquarters of the old headquarters of the defunct Biafran Republic and not to either attack or abduct Governor Sullivan Chime.

He noted that his group succeeded in their mission as they not only hoisted the flag and some banners as the symbol of the rebirth of Biafra but took control of the Government House for four hours before they were dislodged by some security operatives.

President Goodluck Jonathan has continued sending emissaries to help him convince his newly appointed Minister of Defence, Aliyu Gusau, to rescind his resignation.  The Minister was barely one week old on the job when he resigned today following an ominous blowout with the country’s military chiefs.
As previously reported by SaharaReporters, Mr. Gusau followed up his decision, which reportedly shocked Mr. Jonathan, by refusing to attend the weekly cabinet meeting.  Presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati has claimed Gusau did not attend the meeting because he “had a flu.”
However, SaharaReporters had spoken earlier with the Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musikilu Obanikoro, who confirmed there was a disagreement between the new Minister and the military top brass, although he tried to downplay it by describing it as “slight.”

Emergency rescue officials searching for victims of capsized boat in Lagos recently

Some 11 bodies were recovered after a boat capsized last night in Lagos according to emergency rescue officials.

A boat carrying 15 passengers reportedly capsized opposite 41 Road in Festac around 11: 30 PM Nigeria time.

A distress call was sent to the Navy and the National Emergency management Agency asking for rescue. NEMA sources told SaharaReporters that 11 bodies have been recovered so far. The search and rescue operations continue.

Over 250 female students of the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Monguno in Borno State have been relocated to another school in Maiduguri following recent attacks on public schools in the North by Boko Haram members.

The Principal of FGGC Maiduguri told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri yesterday that the students were relocated last week

    “The students started coming on March 3, shortly after the mass transfer, they are still coming. As at this morning (Monday), we have about 225 students. But I believe by now the figure will have risen to 250.

    “We have already accommodated them in our hostels, especially where we had vacant rooms. Since they are all girls, we have identified an unoccupied three bed-room bungalow for possible conversion into a hostel accommodation for them if their number increases. They were transferred with 70% of their teachers, who have also started reporting for duty,” The principal said.
