  The trial of Adeyemi Ikuforiji, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, continued Tuesday with the prosecution witness detailing how the defendants allegedly laundered millions of Naira.


Adebayo Adeniyi, the EFCC witness, told the court how the defendants collected N13.5 million for honorarium, N4.5 million for renovation of the Speaker’s residence, and N1.5 million for the Speaker’s Guest House every month for six consecutive months.
Mr. Ikuforiji and Oyebode Atoyebi, his aide, are facing a 54-count amended charge of money laundering amounting to over N600 million.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, accused the Speaker and his aide of receiving the money from the Lagos State House of Assembly without passing through a financial institution.

There was fire outbreak at Christ Embassy today after the massive generator house at the church premises caught fire following an explosion. 12 days after Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 went missing, the mystery has still not been solved. This incident is unprecedented in aviation history. The latest update now is that a Taiwanese student is claiming to have found a satellite image which appears to show the missing passenger plane in the skies above a jungle. The authenticity of the photo has not been verified, and the region depicted in the image is unknown. The image was taken from a map search website currently being used by thousands of people in an attempt to search for the plane.

Malaysian authorities have yet to respond to this new claim. Some days ago, some fishermen and villagers close to the southern border of Thailand said they saw 'bright light descending at high speed' and loud noise of a plane engine on the night the plane disappeared.

An accident involving three vehicles, one carry 19 Redeemed church members, occurred on Monday along the Potiskum-Maiduguri highway leaving all the Redeemed church members burnt beyond recognition and 16 others dead.

Confirming the accident, the Federal Road Safety Commission spokesman in Yobe State, Mr Yusuf Sani, said the church members were said to be coming back from a church programme in Lagos when the accident happened

    "All the 19 members of Redeemed Christian Church of God who were traveling in one bus were burnt beyond recognition as the bus caught fire on collision with the other two vehicles which also burst in flames shortly afterwards,” said Yusuf Sani

A devout Muslim man is being accused of killing his lesbian daughter and her girlfriend at his home. The bodies of Britney Cosby (pictured right in the pic) and Crystal Jackson (pictured left), both 24, were found behind a Dumpster in Texas on March 7th, but police believe they were killed somewhere else and later dumped there.

James Larry Cosby has been arrested and charged with two counts of evidence-tampering and police are planning to upgrade his charges to capital murder once they finish their investigation as all fingers point to him as the murderer because evidence has so far shown that the ladies were killed in his home. A female banker identified as Amina Magaji, who works with one of the old generation banks has reportedly defrauded the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, to the tune of N17million.

The Emir reportedly opened the account with the said bank in 1967 but left it dormant over the years and the amount in the account grew to N46million. Amina who is highly placed in the bank got tempted and deceptively requested for a cheque book, claiming it was for the emir. She started operating the account and withdraw monies from the account to the tune of N17million.

Her immediate boss eventually noticed the difference in the signature of the Emir they have in their file and that of the signature on a cheque Amina presented and alerted the authorities.

Amina who is said to be married to a top staff of a broadcast organisation is currently in the custody of the EFCC alongside 12 colleagues who have been identified as accomplices. The bank has however raised the 17million from the accounts of Amina and her other accomplice and returned to the Emirs account.

 The Nigerian Immigration Service decided to conduct a test for 3,000 vacant positions and the number of Nigerian Youths that went to the various test locations was overwhelming! Above is a collage of the crowd at the respective venues of the Immigration Service Test carried out in stadiums across the country this morning.

The Abuja stadium which is to sit not more than 60,000 people had well over 80,000 youths and only one entrance to the stadium was opened for the applicants. It's being reported that at least six people died during a stampede at some of the venues of the poorly coordinated test. The dead are mostly from the Abuja venue. I hear a pregnant woman was among the deceased.

The dead applicants have been taken to the National Hospital Abuja morgue. May their souls rest in peace...Amen.

It's important to note that these applicants paid N1,000 registration fee and there were over 2 million applicants...you do the calculation, that's about N2billion. We need the Minister of Interior and Comptroller General of Immigration to address what happened today. Continue to see more pics..

 Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro, has reacted to the craziness that happened yesterday during the Immigration Service Test which took place across stadiums in Nigeria. The number of people that died during the recruitment exercise has increased from 6 to about 9. The deaths occurred in Abuja, Lagos and Minna but instead of commiserating with families who lost loved ones, Mr Moro said they died as a result of their impatience...

    “The applicants lost their lives due to impatience; they did not follow the laid down procedures spelt out to them before the exercise. Many of them jumped through the fences of affected centres and did not conduct themselves in an orderly manner to make the exercise a smooth one. This caused stampede and made the environment unsecured.”

He also contradicted the number of applicants that participated in the employment test. The initial number we got was 2.3million, but the minister says that only 520,000 participated and only 4,556 would be recruited. 520,000 x1,000 =?

A 17-year-old Nigerian girl Forester Samson (pictured above) was stabbed and burnt to death in Moscow, Russia by yet to be identified Russian gangstars, according to a report by Sunday Sun. Find the full report below

    Sunday Sun gathered that she was murdered  by yet-to-be-identified Russian gangsters. According to a family source, the perpetrators went further to lock her body in a room and set it ablaze. Though, the police took her to the  hospital, it was rather futile.

    The source revealed that Forester was sponsored abroad by one Mercy who is suspected to be trafficking  Nigerian girls  on the promise that she would assist them  with  decent jobs in Russia. The teenager  without hesitation, but with the approval of her mother jumped at the offer with high hopes.

The Ecobank staff who died in police custody on February 20th, after his employers accused him of fraud and handed him to the authorities, has been buried. (If you missed it, read here) Babatunde Oke was buried on Saturday March 15th in his hometown in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State .

The family lawyer, Segun Akinloye, told Punch that samples had been taken from the deceased before he was buried and sent abroad for a comprehensive autopsy test. The lawyer said late Oke's family was worried about the delay in the release of the result and have written to the Department of Pathology, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, asking for autopsy results.

Actor Emma Ehumadu was involved in a ghastly accident while filming a robbery scene with Jim Iyke and other actors at a movie location in Asaba, Delta State on Wednesday March 12th. Jim was driving the vehicle during a 'high speed chase' while Emma was shooting a gun from a half open door from the vehicle. Unfortunately there was an issue with the brake and the vehicle hit a location bus. Emma hit his head on the door of a bus and his skull opened.
