Pedestrians looked on in horror as three masked raiders smashed their way into Carr Watches and Diamonds near Liverpool Street station in central London during a daytime robbery yesterday Jan. 22nd. As the gang tried to make their getaway on two mopeds, the have-a-go hero jumped onto the back of one of the robbers and tried to drag him to the ground. The raider then threatened the man with a long knife before running off into the busy streets. Two of the suspects got away from the jewellers while another was arrested nearby. Westlife is my 2nd all time favorite boy-band after Boys 2 Men, and Mark Feehily was my favorite singer in the group. He came out later after the group disbanded to say he was gay. Broke my heart. Anyway, to the story, Mark is now selling snacks &coffee from a catering van. That's him in the van.

The 34 year old has set up his own catering business. He travels round festivals with his van and he serves customers food and drinks himself from the back of his truck. When asked about it, Mark said
"It's going really well, we've got loads of interest and we've booked it in with a lot of the music festivals and we're talking about doing some Irish ones as well. People were flabbergasted at the fact that I was in the van making crepes. People kind of have this thing 'Oh, he was in Westlife a few years ago and now he's making tea. It's my business and I love it, anything I get involved in I get involved 110%."
Mark says he hasn't given up on music yet though and is planning to launch a solo career. Westlife disbanded in 2011 after 14 years together. During their career, they notched 26 top 10 hits.

National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to postpone next month's general election so that the commission can completely distribute the Permanent voters card to prospective voters.

Dasuki gave this advice while speaking at London think-tank Chatham House today January 22nd. He said a postponement within the three months allowed by the law would be a good idea so that all issues bordering on the distribution of permanent voters card as well as elections holding in some part of North eastern Nigeria would be adequately addressed.

A few days ago, T.Boz and Chilli launched a Kickstarter crowd funding campaign to raise $150k for the final TLC album. They got $5k from Katy Perry, $10k from Kids On The Block and over $160k from other fans around the world, helping them surpass their goal of $150k in less than 48 hours.

As of today January 22nd, the group raised over $170k for their album with 28 more days to go.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has shut down the Short Messaging Service (SMS) platform which the Buhari-Osinbajo Presidential Campaign Fundraising Committee launched two days ago to raise funds for its campaign.

Gov. Fashola, who is the the Director of the Committee, disclosed this to newsmen today. He said the party had on Tuesday January 20th launched 5 platforms for party members to donate to its campaign fund, one of which was to use the SMS code 35350 which would be activated on some networks.

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has passed away, aged 90. The monarch died late last night January 22nd (Nigerian time) in his home. His death was announced in a statement broadcast on Saudi state TV.
"His Highness Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and all members of the family and the nation mourn the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, who passed away at exactly 1am this morning (Friday - Saudi time)," the statement said.
Abdullah became king in 2005 after the death of his half-brother King Fahd. The late king's brother, Salman, 79, has been announced as the new ruler of the kingdom.

Spokesperson of the PDP Presidential campaign organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode has called on the APC Presidential candidate, Gen Buhari to withdraw from the presidential race following the controversy surrounding the latter's academic qualification. He made this call yesterday while addressing newsmen in Abuja
"Information reaching us now has shown that the Presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed today (yesterday) in Kano at a press conference that the affidavit he swore to in which he claimed that his credentials were in the custody of the military was not true after all. The implication of the action of this so-called “Mr Clean” is nothing but perjury and we all know that this is a grave criminal offense under our laws and constitution.

According to TheCable, the party had earmarked the Sokoto state stadium for its rally but changed it this morning to the Sokoto Trade Fair complex after a man on a motorcycle was arrested with two bombs on him.

APC and PDP supporters clashed at Ekoro Junction, Command Road in the Abule-Egba area of Lagos this morning. APC supporters were doing their rally in the area when they were confronted by PDP supporters. According to an eye-witness who spoke with LIB, bottles and cutlasses were used but no one died in the mayhem. The police was quickly called to the scene and they've since brought calm to the area. 2yr old Kaleb Ahles shot himself dead with his father's gun which he found in the glove compartment of their family car. The sad incident happened yesterday January 21st . The mum told Florida police that she and Kaleb's dad had been moving out of their home is Eastlake Florida and had left Kaleb inside the car briefly to pick some things when they heard a loud bang from inside the car.

They ran to the car to find the toddler had mistakenly shot himself in the chest with a .380 calibre loaded handgun. The parents said they began performing CPR but he was pronounced dead after arriving at a local hospital.

Restive youths in Bauchi state this morning attacked PDP campaign delegates, including the Minister of the FCT Senator Bala Mohammed, with stones, slippers, hammers, sachet water and other objects at the party's presidential campaign rally which held at the Ibrahim Babangida square in Bauchi the state capital.

According to reports, the youths arrived the venue of the rally singing their support for GEJ but immediately he and his entourage arrived, they started stoning and attacking members of the party.

Ex-militant Niger Delta militant Asari-Dokubo has vowed to retaliate the attack carried out by some hoodlums on President Jonathan's convoy during his campaign rally in Katsina state yesterday Jan. 20th. At a press conference in Abuja today Asari-Dokubo said for every action, there will be an opposite and equal reaction. He called on the Igbos in the north to come home, saying failure to do so and they'll themselves to blame. He said Shekau is a man like himself and that he does not have the monopoly to kill or destroy
"There is an established pattern of pre and post-election violence in the north. In the 50s when late Awolowo was campaigning in the north, he went with helicopters and he was mocked. People said he was flying over the houses and peeping at their wives.

I wrote allegedly because I don't know if he really said this, found it on Africa Telegram. Major Hamza Al Mustapha was the Chief Security Officer of Gen. Sani Abacha, former Nigeria military head of state from November 1993 to his death in June 1998.
"When I got to the bedside of the Head of State, he was already gasping. Ordinarily, I could not just touch him. It was not allowed in our job. But under the situation on ground, I knelt close to him and shouted, “General Sani Abacha, Sir, please grant me permission to touch and carry you.” Contrary to insinuations, speculations and sad rumours initiated by some sections of the society, I maintain that the sudden collapse of the health system of the late Head of State started previous day (Sunday, 7th June, 1998) right from the Abuja International Airport immediately after one of the white security operatives or personnel who accompanied President Yasser Arafat of Palestine shook hands with him (General Abacha) I had noticed the change in the countenance of the late Commander-in-Chief and informed the Aide-de-Camp, Lt. Col. Abdallah, accordingly. He, however, advised that we keep a close watch on the Head of State.
