New Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi says he does not want to go to jail and so will not be stealing from the accounts of the ministry. Amaechi said this while speaking to members of the ministry after his swearing-in as Minister yesterday November 11th.
“I am not as bad as people from the outside say I am. I only engage based on principles. I neither take nor give bribes. If you want to relate with me, don’t give me money. I will also not give you money. I don’t want to go to jail so I won’t steal. But I won’t spare thieves,” he said

A stench from the National Assembly toilets and the lack of water forced the members to quickly review the motions before it and adjourn their sitting till November 17th. According to reports, the situation was so bad that the odor infiltrated into the green chambers where the house members were deliberating on the day's motion. The House sitting was presided over by deputy speaker, Yusuff Lasun.

A member of the house representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency of Cross River State, Michael Etaba, had in a Point of Order lamented that the entire environ was smelling and that water was not running in his office. He said that the chamber was not conducive as a result of the stench.

A Spanish senior tried to smuggle drugs to her jailed son - by stashing them inside a Kinder Surprise's plastic casing, which she then hid in her vagina. The 73-year-old retiree, who has not been named, was busted as she passed through security at Fontcalent prison in Alicante.

She was standing in line waiting to be frisked when she became anxious and decided to remove the package, reports ABC.


It was handed over to guards and found to contain small doses of cocaine and heroin, some tranquilizer pills and 20 Euros (around $21) in cash. She’d swapped out the traditional toy for the illicit items, which had a net worth of roughly $88.

A security guard identified as Ali Mohammed and two others have been arrested by men of the Lagos state police command for allegedly killing Olurunfunmi Lawal inside a two-storey building they guard at No. 34 Olorunfunmi Street, Oworonshoki area of Lagos state on October 23rd.

According to Sahara Reporters, the residents of the area allege that the deceased was found in a pool of his blood just a day after he was declared missing.

According to Tribune, Christopher's body was found by his wife, Eno, dangling from the ceiling fan in the house. Residents of Ogunfunmi Street, Akobi Crescent Surulere, Lagos on Tuesday, dragged a school teacher, Benedict Ekpenyong, a teacher in Akintan Grammar School on Akintan Street, Surulere, to the police station for allegedly locking up a female pupil in his room and attempting to rape her.

The House of Representatives says its call for censorship on social media is for telecommunications company to develop applications or softwares that will pull down all pornographic materials on Nigeria's social media. A statement from the House reads
"The House has prevailed upon the telecommunications service providers to either develop or acquire software that will block or filter-out certain images or contents that violate both moral and religious values in Nigeria.
Passing a resolution on a motion moved by Hon. Johnbull Shekarau calling for the censoring of social media, he prayed the House to urge the telecoms service providers to initiate a take-down procedure that will enable a swift removal of any pornographic materials when notified by network users. He advised that this could be done by dedicating a hotline that will receive and treat complaints.

After five months without ministers, President Muhammadu Buhari has finally inaugurated 36 ministers that were recently screened and cleared by the Senate.

The 36 ministers were also given their portfolios as the former governor of Lagos state Babatunde Fashola stole the show with his appointment as the new minister of power, works and housing.
The presidency had earlier confirmed that the inauguration of the ministers will be carried out on Wednesday, November 11.
From a statement released by Femi Adesina, the special adviser on media and publicity to the president, it was revealed that the ministers were allowed to invite only two guests for their inauguration.
However, just before the ministers were given portfolios, they took the oaths of office in the council chambers of the Presidential Villa.
The swearing-in ceremony lasted two hours, 30 minutes. It began promptly at 10am and ended at exactly 12.30pm.

According to sources in the state house, the closed door meeting between former president Goodluck Jonathan and President Buhari yesterday lasted for about 5 minutes. Jonathan is said to have arrived at the state house in a black SUV at exactly 2pm, went straight to the banquet hall where he met Buhari and came out 5 minutes later. He reportedly left the state house premises at exactly 2.07pm without talking to any journalists.
