First Bank Nigeria Limited has officially announced its plan to cut about 1000 jobs and focus less on providing loans to the oil industry in a bid to reverse the 2015 financial year's 82 per cent slump in profit.

In line with his commitment to improve the welfare of the state workforce, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the lump sum payment of leave allowance to all staff in the State’s mainstream Civil Service, Local Governments and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) with effect from May, 2016.
