Two students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have died in a midnight fire at a Lagos hotel.

Roli Odogwu, a 200-Level Mass Communication student, and Linda Elegeonye, a 300-Level Law student, died of burns, days after they were trapped in the hotel room where they were guests.

Until their death, the two students were residents of Fagunwa Hall.

 
Total of 300 migrants have reportedly been forced from boats over the past two days by smugglers off the coast of Yemen – many feared dead or missing, the United Nations migration agency has reported.
“The survivors told our colleagues on the beach that the smuggler pushed them into the sea when he saw some 'authority types' near the coast,” said Laurent de Boeck, the Yemen Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM ).

At least 3 people have died from Lassa fever in Lagos state and another 100 under monitoring at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).


Now, Dr Bello Kawuwa, Yobe state Commissioner for Health says Four people are being quarantined for clinical analysis in Yobe over suspected case of Lassa fever.

In an act of unbelievable cruelty, a girl poured boiling water onto the face of an 11-year-old girl attending a Bronx sleepover.

The Lagos state police command has arrested 42-year-old John Owobi, pictured above, for allegedly beating his wife, Theresa, to death and claiming she poisoned herself in their room and parlor self-contain home at No 42 Musiliu street, Oko-oba area of the state last weekend.

According to detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID, Panti, Yaba where he is currently being detained, John told his three children to lie to their neighbors that the deceased drank sniper and killed herself.

A man who failed to flush the toilet of a home he burgled has been arrested after DNA evidence exposed him.
42-year-old Andrew David Jensen is said to have used a bathroom in a Thousand Oaks home during a 2016 burglary and failed to flush after using.

Emmanuel Oluwatosin Kazeem, a Nigerian man accused of obtaining more than 125,000 stolen taxpayer identities from across the United States has been convicted in a federal court in Oregon. He was found guilty on 19 counts of mail and wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.

Prosecutors say Kazeem bought over 91,000 of the identities from a Vietnamese hacker who got into a database belonging to an Oregon company called CICS Employment Services.

3 new suspects have been arrested at a suspected den of kidnappers and ritual killers in the Obadeyi-Ijaiye end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

A fake corp member has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom police command at the NYSC orientation camp in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Chukwu Ikechukwu, in a statement on Wednesday, said the fake corps member, Mr Justice Orlu, was arrested after policemen at the camp were alerted.

Four persons have been ordered to be remanded in prison by an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun State on Wednesday over alleged abduction and having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 17-year-old girl.
 Seyi Akindoyin, 27; Tope Akanni, 20; Abiodun Olayinka, 19, and Seun Odugade, 22, the accused pleaded not guilty the charge of conspiracy, abduction, intimidation, and rape.

The Magistrate, Mr. Olalekan Ijiyode, denied the oral bail application made by Mr. Ola Ibrahim, the counsel for the accused.

 
A certain Linda and her secret married lover, Simon are currently involved in a fierce battle after she allegedly collected  N1.2m from him for rounds of sex and insisted that he must marry her as second wife.The incident which happened at an hotel in Ikotun saw Linda, who is a single mother of three ordering that Simon take her and her kids home to his wife, else she tells his wife what transpired between them.
Not stopping there, Linda gave Simon a time frame adding that if he doesn't do as she wished she would reveal his extramarital affairs to his wife.

A 62-year old man, Sabi Bruno arrested for having sex with a 14-year old girl has defended his action,  saying  the victim was matured enough as he penetrated her with easy and they both enjoyed it without complaints.

His defence was however ignored as he was found him guilty and charged him before a Lagos court for sexual assault based on the victim's age and remanded in jail.

 
A 42-year-old driver, Igwe Dike, has been arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja, for allegedly beating his wife, Nkiru Egbo, with a plank which left her and their son seriously injured.


Dike was arraigned on two counts of assault and causing of grievous bodily harm, which he pleaded not guilty to.

A young man who specializes in stealing and selling little children has been apprehended in Sokoto state. According to reports, the man was apprehended after a little girl he attempted to steal at the 500 housing estate in Sokoto a while ago, recognized him last Saturday. After much torture from the youths in the area, he confessed to have stolen so many children from the area. He said he sells them to some people but he, however, refused to disclose those he sell's them off to. He has since been handed over to the police. 

 
Angry mob sets ablaze a suspected motorcycle thief at Dabi village, Kwali area council last Sunday.
Witnesses said the incident happened at about 4:00p.m. in the community on the Abuja-Lokoja expressway.
It was gathered the mob pursued the suspected thief from Gwagwalada to Dabi after he allegedly snatched a motorcycle. The suspect abandoned the machine and fled but that the mob caught him. He was beaten to pulp before being burnt alive.

 
The police in Abuja have recounted how a 45-year-old man slumped and died last Sunday after having sex with his girlfriend at her apartment in War College Estate, Gwarimpa, Abuja.
According to a police source, the deceased had visited his girlfriend identified only as Bridget at about 10:00 in the morning. He was preparing to leave when he suddenly slumped and died.
