After giving seven years of his life as an apprentice to Chief Nwaneri, Nnabugo is left with nothing, not even the settlement allowance he is supposed to receive after serving. He is left with no other alternative than to steal from his boss.

The battle for the final five men and women continues again this week after the week’s voting could not present clear cut last five.
The results that came in were too close to call and there was no definite way the pendulum could swing, either for the final five or the next star to drop from the competition.
It has thus been agreed that the voting will continue for another week to see if there will be clear winners for the final phase of the competition. After the last five emerge the winners will be announced sometime in January.
At this point, the panel has concluded we should suspend publishing the positions of the last contenders for the Sexiest Man and Woman in 2013. The final result will be published in January. But the voting continues non-stop till Wednesday, December 19, 2013. and going by the experience of the game we all know a lot can happen between now and next week. Only your votes can make a difference!
For this reason and more, the names of the last 6 contenders shall be published in alphabetical order with no reference to how they stand in the game.

The five-day warning strike called by the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, took its toll on healthcare services in public hospitals, yesterday, as patients waited long hours without getting attention from doctors who stayed away from their duty posts.
The strike, which took off on a slow pace in most hospitals in Lagos and Ibadan, later became total.

At Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi-Araba, only senior medical consultants, nurses, ward aides and other ancillary staff were observed attending to patients in the wards and the accident and emergency unit.

A similar scenario played out at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja, where dozens of patients that had booked appointments were told to go home after waiting for hours without getting attention.
In a reaction to the development, Chairman NMA, LagosState branch, Dr. Francis Faduyile, said: “It is a full blown strike. This is the first strike called by the NMA in the last 10 years.”
At the UniversityCollegeHospital, Ibadan, several patients, except those on emergency, were turned back and forced to seek alternative medical attention.

Dear Venerable Pastors:

After a lot of inner turmoil concerning the situation in Nigeria, I decide to write you this open letter. Each time I visit Nigeria I experience a deep inner threat as to the direction of the country.

I have deliberately addressed this open letter to the two of you out of more than dozen Nigerian Pentecostal and Charismatic Preachers with Mega Churches both at home and overseas. Three of you including Pastor Tunde Bakare in my view, are the only influential men of God in our country that Nigerians hold in awe and high esteem.

Pastor Bakare is not included in this letter because he is already a proven combatant in the war against oppression, corruption, and injustice that have become the trade mark of the Nigerian ruling class. You’re a target of this letter in order to conscript you as it were, into the people’s army of non-violence to be soldiers in the long running battle of oppression that has decimated Nigeria as well as her citizens.

Fifty three years ago, Nigeria became independent after a century of British rule. October 1, 1960 became a momentous occasion and a beacon of light and hope to millions of Africans and other oppressed people in the world.
Fifty three years after independence, Nigeria remains a symbolic elephant casting off the colonial yoke; and today is being replaced with a new authoritarian yoke of a representative democracy.

Since independence, the antecedents of Nigeria’s crisis has acquired a drama all its own. The historical genesis of the Nigerian crisis is well known to you. Therefore, I don’t intend to bore you with annoying repetition.

All doctors in public hospitals this morning retrieved their services.

The famous Mile One Market in Mile One Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was razed by fire in the morning, following a fire outbreak which started in the early hours of today, Tuesday, December 17.
Some of the eyewitnesses said the fire may have started around 1 a.m. or 2 a.m.
Hundreds of traders, sympathizers and onlookers flooded the area. Some traders were rushed to the hospital for medical attention after discovering that their shops and goods have been destroyed.
To worsen the situation, a driver who stole someone's car loaded with goods while trying to escape from the police patrol van ran over a boy, injuring him badly.
Some residents of the area report gunshots and siren sounds, others say there were explosion sounds as cartons of insecticidesand perfumes were popping due to intense heat.
The fire razed the entire make-shift market, and damaged a two-storey residential building that houses some lock-up stores. The state fire service and that of the Nigerian Ports Authority put out the fire and prevented it from spreading to adjoining streets and offices.
The office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and that of the Federated Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) are two blocks away from the inferno.
The state Commissioner for Special Duties, Dickson Omunnakwe, said that the fire took everybody by surprise since his ministry organised fire safety training for the traders last week.
Mr. Omunnakwe commended the management of the NPA for responding to the distress call made by the government.
