Leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau released a new video yesterday where he talked about the massacre they carried out in Baga, Borno state on January 2nd and 7th. In the 35-minutes video clip, Shekau claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that his lord instructed him to do so in his book

"We killed the people of Baga. We indeed killed them, as our Lord instructed us in His Book. We will not stop. This is not much. You will see. I'm ready"

Iranian football team is currently playing in the Asia Cups finals in Australia and the players have been warned not to take selfies with female fans. Iran says it is against their 'moral principles' and any player caught taking selfies with 'female' fans will be punished. They don't mind them taking selfies with male fans though.

When they play back home in Iran, women are not even allowed to come watch the games. Iran made the threats to players after photos of some of them posing with some female fans, who are mostly Iranian-born who live in Australia, were shared on social media...

Seven month pregnant daughter of Nassarawa state governor's campaign manager, Musa Illu, Amina Suleiman was on Monday Jan. 19th killed by unknown assailants at her husband's home in Katsina state.

According to reports, Amina, whose husband was away to Zaria for his doctorate degree programme was found in the pool of her blood with her throat slit and a knife in her stomach. Younger brother to the campaign manager, Namairo Babai, while confirming the incident said her husband had tried to reach her on phone on the day of the attack but when he couldn't, he sent somebody to check on his wife only to be told she'd been killed.

'I think in a free society, there is a right to cause offence about someone's religion. British comedian, actor and presenter Stephen Fry, 57, announced on twitter yesterday that he has married his partner, 27 year old Elliot Spencer, 10 ten after they announced their engagement and about a year after they started dating. Elliot is a standup comedian.
Elliot Spencer's father, who at 57 is the same age as Stephen Fry, said yesterday he and his wife Melanie, 52, are 'over the moon' over their son's marriage to the QI presenter. "'We are obviously very happy. We are over the moon, that is all I want to say.'

As reported by the AFP in an article of January 17, 2015, captioned “Thousands see off Chadian troops to fight Boko Haram,” Idriss Deby the authoritarian leader of Chad, Nigeria’s north eastern neighbor, said “in a speech read by the speaker of parliament that the new deployment (of Chadian troops to Cameroon) aimed to recapture Baga.” Cameroon had requested for and welcomed the deployment that saw 400 Chadian military vehicles arrive in Cameroon. Pope Francis who is currently in the Philippines was moved to hug these two children after one of them, 12 year old Glyzelle Palomar, a rehabilitated homeless girl, asked him in tears why God could allow children to become prostitutes.
"Many children get involved in drugs and prostitution. Why does God allow these things to happen to us? The children are not guilty of anything.” Palomar said during her speech at a Catholic mass
Pope Francis who couldn't find an immediate answer for her question, got up and gave a hug. He later replied her and the congregation saying

Yes, it's true! Actor Muna Obiekwe has died. He died yesterday afternoon around 4:15pm in a hospital in Lagos after a battle with kidney failure. He was rushed to the hospital today after he collapsed at his home. Muna has been quietly battling this kidney disease but kept it hush hush from friends and colleagues. So Sad! A colleague said for over two weeks before he died didn't go for his dialysis.

Muna needed money for his health problems but instead of going public to raise money, he told friends he was planning a stage play to raise money but died before he could do it. Unbelievably sad!

Meanwhile, there's some twitter handle called @MunaObiekwe that's denying his death. That is not Muna! Unfortunately the real one is gone. Unbelievable! RIP to a great actor!

There are so many people who don't believe Muna Obiekwe is gone. I understand your reservations. He was a young, vibrant, talented guy whose illness we all didn't even know about. So his death is hard to take. Unfortunately it's true. Here's a pic of him on a dialysis machine, prior to his death. And a pic of him when he arrived at the hospital this afternoon is circulating on Twitter. He collapsed at home and they rushed him to the hospital where doctors confirmed him dead on arrival

Family says beauty queen Esther Kanu died of cardiac arrest at 24 , On the morning of January 7th, model and MBGN contestant Esther Kanu suddenly slumped and died later at the Garki General hospital Abuja where she was rushed to. Her family just released a statement today saying that the beautiful young woman, born on October 22, 1990, died of Cardiac Arrest, according to the doctor who treated her. 

 How do you die of cardiac arrest at 24? She slumped around 2.30am at her family home in Abuja on Wednesday without any prior illness. This is scary and too sad! May her soul rest in peace, amen.

25 year old Familola Ayodeji (pictured above) has been arrested by the Ekiti state Police command for raping an 85 year old great grandmother on December 25th 2014. According to police report, Familola a resident of No. 17, Oke Ido Street, Ido-Ekiti sneaked into the great grand mother's room, bolted the door and forcefully had sex with her. He initiall went into hiding after the act but was caught after a widespread manhunt. Medical examination conducted on the aged woman showed she was raped. Familola is expected to appear in court soon.
