The rest of us may not be taking this seriously  but controversial Clergyman, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka of Adoration Ministries, Enugu, is. He has suspended his weekly Friday crusade which he holds at the Adoration ground in Enugu following allegations of threat to his life. He says the suspension is till after the elections.

Last Friday March 20th, over 100,000 worshipers who had trooped the Adoration ground for worship were turned back.

My dear People of Rivers State, I bring you honest and sincere greetings. Today, I address you out  of the fullness of my heart. Recall that in December 2013, out of extreme loyalty to my Boss and friend, I joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with other then disillusioned Rivers People. Ever since, as the true nature and motives of APC are unveiled, I have continued to twist and turn in extreme mental and emotional agony. The more I struggle to belong, the more the Rivers man in me rejects the APC.

Defence Headquarters this evening released a statement on how they foiled another Boko Haram attack on Bama, Borno state today, March 21st. Sadly one soldier died while 7 others got injured during the attack. They have been evacuated from the combat area by air and are already receiving medical attention. Many of the terrorists were killed.

A few websites today claimed Chris Brown was now dating model Candace Brook after one of his friends posted a pic of him and the girl on twitter and instagram suggesting there was something going on between them...but Chris took to twitter this afternoon to deny it. He wrote;
"I don’t have a new girl and don’t plan on it anytime soon. #rumorkiller,” he tweeted. And then added, “Some people try to ride the wave and take suggestive pictures misleading others. Knowing damn well they came wit da homies and not me!”
He has since taking down the tweet. Meanwhile, a baby bottle was seen on Chris' tour bus as the singer is said to be spending a lot of time with his daughter, Royalty. See that after the cut...

A mob in Afghanistan, punched, kicked, stoned, and beat a woman to death and then set her body on fire and threw it into a muddy river in Kabul yesterday Thursday March 19th for burning pages of Islam's holy book near the Shah-e Doh Shamshira shrine and mosque and it was all caught on tape.

The woman was later identified as 27 year old Farkhunda. Her parents later told police that she suffered from mental illness for many years and that she had not meant to burn Islam's holy book

According to a LIB reader who is a Corper in Kebbi state, he said Corps members are being taught how to use the m60 guns for protection because of the insecurity related to the forthcoming election.
"The corp members were given security tips on how to prevent and handle mishaps in the course of the elections. They will not be given guns and ammunitions but in case the Boko boys decide to show their faces, Corpers will be able to help the security agents. After all, we are all serving our father's land." Many of the Internally Displaced Persons who fled to Maiduguri after the town of Bama was recaptured from Boko Haram members last week have recounted how the sect members killed their wives before they escaped the town.

According to what they said, the militants decided to kill their wives after getting word that troops were advancing to recapture Bama, because they didn't want the women to remarry 'unbelievers'

Anyway, according to a report by Premium Time, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a man who was attempting to smuggle 35.115 kg of Cannabis sativa hidden inside Nigerian made sausage rolls to China. 

The management of Folio Communications Limited, owners of Daily Times of Nigeria Plc, have threatened to drag online news portal, Premium Times to court over the use of the word 'Times' in its brand name. According to a letter sent to Premium Times management, the solicitors to Folio Communications Limited, Elias Mordi & Co, cautioned Premium Times to desist from using the word 'Times', adding that Daily Times has since inception enjoyed goodwill from people who have come to know it with the word 'Times.

The lawyers said the continued use of the word by Premium Times would amount to them enjoying their clients goodwill which they took years to build...

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Attahiru Jega says the electoral body is ready to conduct the general elections which starts next week Saturday March 28th. At a meeting with some Civil Society bodies in Abuja today, Prof Jega said the time provided by the postponement has helped the commission articulate its plan for the conduct of a successful election
"We believe very strongly that the period of the extension has been put to good use and it has added value and obviously we would be able to do a much better election and it also enforced our belief that the elections for 2015 will be remarkably better than the 2011 elections and in fact we believe it will be the best election in Nigeria's history" he said
He however raised concerns over the security of INEC staffs and NYSC members who would be working during the election days
"Clearly security remains an issue of concern particularly securing the staff of INEC as they are being deployed or as they are conducting the elections and also protecting the election environment" he said

Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomole has ordered a full scale investigation into the death of Chibuike Edeh, a staff of Protea hotel in Benin city, Edo state, who was arrested for stealing N48,000 belonging a guest at the hotel on March 14th. He later died in police custody.

Gov Oshiomole gave the charge while receiving the family members of the young man who staged a protest at the government house yesterday March 18th. Read previous story here and continue...

Aisha Buhari, wife of the APC Presidential candidate, Gen. Buhari says former Lagos state Governor and one of APC's chieftains, Bola Tinubu jettisoned his personal interest and allowed her husband run as president for the sake of Nigeria. She said this at the 14th town hall meeting of the Lagos Central senatorial district hosted by Sen. Remi Tinubu (APC senatorial candidate in Lagos yesterday March 18th.
"My husband, General Muhammadu Buhari has been contesting presidential elections for over a decade now, but this particular election is unique because our leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu jettisoned his personal interest for the sake of Nigeria.” she said

The Federal Government has announced the reduction in electricity tariff by half. Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Sam Amadi, who made the announcement in Abuja today March 17th, said after a review of the tariffs being paid by Nigerians, the commission agreed to slash it by half. The reduction takes effect from the end of March.

He said the commission agreed to remove the Multi-year tariff order, MYTO 2.1 following multiple petitions and complains from Nigerians especially members of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria who said inclusion of the MYTO 2.1 caused them to spend more on their businesses and in some cases loss of jobs.
