There was a fire incident at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja today. The fire reportedly started on the sixth floor of the building, which houses major government offices, and is believed to have affected the seventh and eighth floors.
According to Channels TV, the damaged area is reported to be occupied by the Federal Ministry of Education. No casualty was recorded. More photos after the cut.

 
Two young men have been confirmed dead with several injured in a clash between youths and members of a vigilante group and in Angwan Yaman, Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State. 
Spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, (DSP) Bala Elkana, who confirmed the incident in Minna on Friday, said the violence which broke out on Thursday was caused by the death of a 17-old boy who was allegedly tortured by members of the vigilance group.

A disgruntled doctor, Dr Henry Bello, a family physician who was fired from his job  at a Bronx hospital in 2015, hid a high powered rifle under a lab coat and had his ID with him when he walked into the hospital and started a shooting spree on  the 16th and 17th floors of the hospital, police sources say. He shot dead a female physician and seriously wounded six other doctors before setting himself on fire and shooting himself.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction of Tajudeen Yusuf, a former branch manager with Skye Bank. Tajudeen was prosecuted before Justice Ambrose Alagwa of Federal High Court 1, Jos on 3 counts of forgery.

A suspected member of notorious cult group, Badoo, was apprehended in Ikorodu, Lagos state yesterday June 30th. According to residents of the town, the man was found wandering around Obafemi Awolowo Road, before Government Technical College, Ikorodu with a Cutlass and a Bag full of waste.

The Edo State Police command have arrested one Pastor Endurance Ehioze and his sister for allegedly trafficking young girls to Russia.

Confirming their arrest to Vanguard, the commissioner of police in the state, Haliru Gwandu, said they were arrested after an NGO who got wind of their illicit activities, reported them to the police. Narrating her experience in the hands of the pastor and his sister, one of the victims, 24 year old Miss Florence Abu, said;

Sattahip police, Thailand were called to a deserted house after the owner of a seven year old Thai dog reported that a man had raped her pet. The dog owner Bang-orn Phumkaew called the cops after catching the 65 year old man completely naked with "Jao Jut", a Thai breed of dog.
The culprit "Chen" was caught having intercourse with the dog, on Wednesday, June 28.

 
An Ekiti state High Court has sentenced a former Vice Principal of St. Mary’s Girls Grammar School, Ikole-Ekiti, Taiwo Ajayi, to life in jail for raping a 12-year-old student (name withheld) of the school. According to the prosecution counsel, Ajayi who was the school's Vice Principal(Academics), committed the crime on March 18th 2014.
Ajayi lured the girl into his office, locked the door from behind and raped her on his office table while covering her mouth with a cloth so that she would not attract anyone while she screamed. One of the teachers knocked ON the door but the convict refused to open the door and threatened her not to tell anybody.

 
Naomi Oni, a former Victoria's Secret worker, had acid poured on her face in 2012 by her jealous childhood friend, Mary Konye, who was obsessed with her and emulated all she did. Konye, who had been her friend since the age of 11 is currently serving a 12 year jail sentence. She had become very obsessed with Naomi, jealous of her good looks and, after an argument between them, attacked her with acid in 2012.

Operatives of the Niger State Police Command, acting on a reliable tip off, arrested four suspects believed to be members of a criminal gang that has been terrorizing Shabawoshi and Epogi villages in Katcha and Mokwa Local Government Areas of the state.
The suspects are Joseph Amoh, Amos Moses, Ndaman Ahmadu and Musa Iye. One barrette pistol was recovered from them. They have been charged to court.

A Terminally ill ten-month-old baby, Charlie Gard, will be allowed to die as his parents Chris Gard and Connie Yates have lost their final legal bid to take him to the USA for treatment, after specialists at the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London believe life support treatment for the boy, who suffers from a rare genetic condition and has brain damage, should stop.



The specialists insist that the therapy proposed by a doctor in the US is experimental and would not help. Charlie's parents took their fight to the European Court of Human Rights after losing battles in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in London, and their lawyers argued that the family's human rights were being undermined. They also insisted that Charlie's right to life and liberty were being violated.

The European judges refused to intervene, agreeing that undergoing experimental treatment would continue to cause Charlie harm.


Imo State-born paralympic gold medalist, Precious Nwakaego Orji and her husband Kelechi Moses have welcomed their first child together, a baby girl.
She posted photos of the newborn named Chinemenma Moses, on her Facebook page on Thursday morning.

Men of the Abia State Police Command have arrested a Fulani herdsman identified as one Adamu Abubakar who shot a commercial motorcyclist popularly known as okada rider. It was gathered that on May 27, at about 2am, the okada rider, one Uyime a resident at Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria, Akwette reported that he conveyed two passengers later identified as Adamu Abubakar and one other now at large from Azumiri to Akwette.


Three friends have lost their lives after the Peugeot car they were riding in crashed under a trailer along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway Wednesday June 28th. Eyewitnesses say the Peugeot car reportedly lost control while driving and crashed under the trailer. The remains of the accident victims have been deposited at the morgue. A woman escaped death by the whiskers on Wednesday, as a car rammed into her shop moments after she closed for the day. The incident happened at Okorie Street off Tetlow Road, Owerri in Imo state. The woman had just locked her shop and was on her way home when the incident happened. There was no casualty recorded fortunately. More photos after the cut.

Michael Bond, the creator of Paddington Bear, has died at home at the age of 91, following a short illness.
Bond, who published his first book, A Bear Called Paddington, in 1958, went on to write more than 200 books for children and till date more than 35 million Paddington books have been sold around the world to date.


Residents of Ikorodu community in Lagos state, this morning staged a protest following the recurring attacks in the community by secret cult group, Badoo. 
The cult members in the early hours of today, killed a family of five. The first attack by the cult group happened in July 2016 and security agents have still not been able to unmask those behind the cult group. See more photos of the protesters after the cut.
