Saturday June 7, 2014, will remain the happiest day in the life of Mercy James. Reason? That was the day she miraculously gave birth to a baby girl after 14 years of being pregnant.



The baby was promptly and aptly christined Miracle. And why not? If the mother had delivered at the expected time the child would have been a teenager by now and possibly in secondary school at the JSS 3 level.

And now they've started bombing shopping malls? Dear Lord, help us! People who live in the area have reported an explosion at popular Emab Plaza on Aminu Kano Crescent in Wuse 2 in Abuja, which happened just a few minutes ago around 4pm. Someone tweeted this pic above supposedly from the explosion. The explosion is said to have occurred at the gate of the very busy plaza and six people have been confirmed dead with at least 15 people injured...

In case you haven't heard, R&B legend R Kelly has a transgender daughter with ex-wife and star of Hollywood exes, Andrea Kelly. 14 year old Jaya Kelly (pictured right) now goes by the name Jay after she revealed she/he has identified as male since he was 7 years old. She's dumped her female clothes and strictly wears clothes and even cut her hair. Jay admitted that her father recently found out about her transition to a boy but her mum and sister have known for a while and are supportive.

Well, R.Kelly may know that his daughter now calls herself a boy but he's definitely having difficulty coming to terms with it. When asked about it during an interview at the WCGI Summer Jam this week, R.Kelly shut the reporter up when he referred to Jaya as his son.

"Well, first off don’t start by calling her my son. As far as that’s concerned, always believe what you see - with your own
eyes that is. That’s the best way to go about this business. I’ve heard a
lot of things about a lot of people and it was never true.”

Members of the Edo state House of Assembly yesterday June 23rd threw caution to the wind as they engaged in physical combat at the entrance of the State Assembly complex.
Trouble started when four PDP members; Hon. Festus Ebea, Hon. Patrick Osayimwen, Hon. Jude Ise-Idehen and Hon. Friday Ogieriakhi, suspended by the house on June 9th for what was termed
'gross misconduct', tried to gain entrance into the Assembly complex and also refused to receive a court document barring them from the building.

A four-seater plane flying from Nigeria to Gabon via Cameroon has gone missing. The plane, owned by US company, Global Aviation, took off from Kano Airport around 6pm yesterday Monday June 23rd and was billed to make a stop over at Doula Cameroon before continuing to Gabon to arrive at 11pm but it never arrived at Doula, Cameroonian Aviation authorities have said. Only an American pilot was on-board.

The Gabon Aviation authorities say the last contact they had with the plane was when it was in Mongo which is a 2-hour flight from the Cameroonian economic capital. Search & Rescue operation has so far not yielded any result but the search operation still continues.

At least 91 persons, were said to have been abducted by Boko Haram men between Thursday and Sunday from the Kumanza,Yaga and Dagu, Damboa and Dagu, Damboa and Askira Uba Local Government Areas of Borno State, local vigilante officials said yesterday night.

Four other villagers were killed while attempting to escape from their abductors, said Aji Khalil, Chairman, Sector 5 of the local vigilante group in Borno State. Continue...

According to a Vanguard reporter who spoke with Stephen Keshi in Brazil, the Super Eagles coach is angry at Nigerian fans for abusing him over the team's performance at the on-going World Cup in Brazil. Keshi said there was absolutely no justification for fans to insult him and his family.

"It’s a shame, just a shame that we keep doing the same thing and then they come back and they say they are sorry. Sorry for abusing my mum? Sorry for abusing my siblings? For what? That I am representing Nigeria?”

The twitter handle of the Nigerian Television Authority, is reporting that sixty girls were kidnapped by insurgence in Kummabza village, in Damboa LGA in Borno state. See their report below...

About sixty girls between the ages of 3-12 years have been abducted by insurgents in Kummabza village of Damboa local government area of Borno State. Reports from the area indicates that the insurgents also killed about thirty people and destroyed property worth millions of naira during an attack on the community, residents of the village are
taking refuge in Lassa and Gulak in Adamawa State. They appealed to the authorities to provide them with shelter and relief materials to reduce their sufferings.Further updates to be provided as soon as we have them...

The Sudanese woman sentenced to death for Apostasy was released yesterday June 23rd after a Sudanese Supreme Court ordered her immediate release. A happy Meriam Ibrahim is seen in the picture flanked on her right by her husband, Daniel Wani,  their 21month old son Martin who was in

The acting chief operations officer of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), Hlaudi Motsoeneng is under probe for accepting a 22 year old who was given to him as a gift. (girl circled).

According to local media, Motsoeneng was given the young woman, along with a cow and a calf, by a lobby group of traditional leaders in Thohoyandou, in Limpopo province, who are seeking greater exposure of their culture.

A Soweto-based newspaper reported last week that about 10 half-naked women were lined up and Motsoeneng was asked to pick one. He picked a human resources management student named Vanessa Mutswari. The SSS today Wednesday June 18 said the Boko Haram sect is planning to bomb Abuja with petrol tankers within the next few days. The Coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mike Omeri, made this known at a briefing in Abuja alongside the Deputy Director of the DSS, Marilyn Ogar

"The Nigerian Security services had received intelligence report to the effect that insurgents intends seizing petrol tankers and plant improvised devices in the tankers and drive them to crowded places in Abuja.

“Against this backdrop, we hereby call on the Petrol Tankers Association to be on the red alert and advise their members to report any attempt or seizure of their vehicles to security agencies.

“In this wise, Nigerians are also advised to report any broken down tanker in any part of the territory to security agencies. Similarly, we are using this opportunity to appeal to the public to be on the alert particularly when they see any tanker driving dangerously." He said

Boko Haram men this evening attacked a football viewing center in Damaturu, Yobe State during a live football match between Brazil and Mexico in the ongoing world cup in Brazil.

The sect men reportedly hauled explosives at the viewing center, injuring several people. Injured people were rushed to nearby hospitals.

Yobe state Police commissioner told AFP that they have deployed policemen to the scene and will give details on the incident later...

According to a report by Guardian, not less than 486 suspected Boko Haram members including eight women were arrested by the military personnel of the 144 battalion of the Nigerian Army with base at Asa in Ukwa West council of Abia State. Full report below...

    Abia State Information Commissioner, Chief Eze Chikamnayo, who took some reporters to the military camp yesterday to see the suspects said they were arrested around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday along Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway at Arongwa area called Imo Gate, which is a boundary between Abia and Rivers states.

    He said that the suspects whose ages were from 15 years were traveling on 35 buses from undisclosed northern states to the South South.  He said that they claimed to be going to search for jobs, adding that two of the buses later escaped. Continue...
