The
28-year-old Ibadan-based female lawyer, Yewande Oyediran who is being
accused of killing her husband, Lowo Oyediran, in Ibadan, on Tuesday
insisted she had no hands in her husband’s death.
This denial follows her appearance before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo state capital.
The accused, who is a member of staff of the Ministry of Justice in the
state, was alleged to have stabbed her husband, Oyelowo Oyediran, to
death on February 2 and has since been remanded at Agodi Prison by the
Chief Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Durosaro-Tijani, pending the advice of the
Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, in the state.
Presiding over the case, the Chief
Judge of Oyo State, Justice Munta Abimbola, announced that he would give
the case an accelerated hearing.
Abimbola scheduled two close dates, 23 and 27 June, to accommodate witnesses in the case.
The Chief Judge added that his judgment would be delivered in July at the latest.
This was just as the accused pleaded not guilty, denying involvement in her husband’s death.
