The man who killed 3 police men and injured 3 others has been identified

The man who shot three police officers dead and injured three others in Baton Rouge has been named as Gavin Eugene Long from Kansas City. He shot 6 people on his 29th birthday.

According to CBS News reports, 29 year old  Long was a former Marine who was honorably discharged after achieving the rank of sergeant, before becoming a life coach and self-styled 'Alpha-preneur' under the name of Cosmo Setepenra.



Someone called the police at about 8:29 am Sunday morning to report that there was a man wearing a mask, and an all black outfit, carrying a long gun. As soon as police responded to the complaint, Long opened fire on them and killed 3 police officers with 1 officer in critical condition and 2 others with non-life threatening injuries.

He was killed in the gun battle between himself and police officers.

Long is said to have worked alone.
