Abia Police arrest suspected armed robber, recovers stolen vehicle with 35 kegs of palm oil

The Abia State Police Command has recovered two stolen vehicles and arrested a suspected armed robber. Briefing newsmen at the police headquarters on Tuesday, May 9, the Commissioner of Police Adeleye Oyebade said that one Johnson, a cab driver reported at Obehie Police Station that his vehicle, Volkswagen Vento car with reg. no. FST 411 CN used in conveying 35 kegs of Palm Oil from Akwa-Ibom to Port-Harcourt was snatched from him by four men armed with Clubs and Iron rods at Oke-Ikpe town in Obehie on May 2.


Consequent upon the report, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and Patrol teams attached to Obehie and Akwette Divisions were placed on alert and intensive search for the vehicle and its contents commenced immediately. Then at about 0630hrs of same date, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) team attached to Obehie Area traced the vehicle to the house of one Ambrose at Mkporobe village in Ukwa East LGA, Abia State.
 The vehicle with 29 kegs of Palm Oil, some house breaking equipment such as two (2) hammers and cutters and two (2) black caps purportedly used to cover faces were recovered in his house. Efforts are in progress toward tracking down the said Ambrose and his gang members.
In another development, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Operatives attached to Obehie acting upon a tip off, arrested one Iheariorochi Enyinna aged 28years, of Ogwe Asa but resident in Umuebulungwu village Ukwa-East and recovered from him, one Passat Volkswagen Wagon with fake reg. no. AGL 687 AQ and parts of Berretta Pistol suspected to have been used in snatching the car.
The suspect has confessed snatching the vehicle which original reg. no. KRD 289 AW sometime in February 2017 at Arochukwu in Abia State and is giving a lead towards the arrest of his accomplices.
