Singer Paul Play Dairo has filed a N200m lawsuit against telecommunications company, Etisalat for using his song, Mosorire in its popular reality series, Nigerian Idol, without seeking his consent. In the suit filed at a Lagos High court and marked FHC/CS/581/2014, Optima Media Group was made co-defendant. Paul stated that the defendants had used his hit song, Mosorire, which he composed himself, to promote their TV show, Nigerian Idol in 2012 and 2013.

He alleged that during the course of the programme, a contestant was made to reproduce his song and sing it without his express permission as the owner of the song.

According to BBC Africa, Ivorian president Alassane Quattara is giving each member of the Ivory Coast 23-man Squad team, a house worth $52,000, and same amount in cash for their AFCON 2015 victory.

The Ivorian Football Federation and the team's technical staff also got rewards. In all, the Ivorian government gave out $3million in celebration of the victory.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian team who lost to Ivory Coast, also got rewards. Each player is being given $25,000 by the team's sponsor, the state-owned Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

16 year old Ryan Morgan (pictured above) was shot dead at his home in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday Feb. 4th by a classmate who then posed with his dead body, took a pictured and sent it to another friend. The killer, a 16 year old black boy, has been charged with murder. He was arrested after police received a copy of the photo ..
"(Police) received a copy of the photo which depicted the victim sitting in the chair with a gunshot wound to the face,” said an affidavit seen by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. “It also depicts a black male taking the ‘selfie,' with his face facing the camera and the victim behind.”

You all remember on Grammy night, Kanye West was pissed that Beck won Album of the year award rather than his choice, Beyonce. Well, Kim later posted a selfie with John Legend and his wife (above) from the audience claiming they were all in shock when Beck won the award. Kim wrote "This is the Beck won that award face!"

Linda Ikeji has broken the internet by officially becoming Nigeria’s number one news/gossip content website after overtaking the almighty ‘Nairaland;’ a website that had remained Nigeria’s number one website for a stretch of years. For the records, Nairaland, while it was Nigeria’s number one website, (and because it was number one) had an offer of $5 million to sell  and smile to the bank but guess what, the brain behind Nairaland refused to sell for any price; to show how valuable the website was but as at the time of writing this, Nairaland has lost the number one spot to Linda Ikeji; who now owns a website we estimate to be worth over N1.1 billion judging by the $5 million offer Nairaland once turned down; with the current exchange rate pegged at $1 exchanging for N220. This offer came years ago and by implication, if the offer were to be made today, it would by all means exceed the earlier $5 million offer, which points to one irrefutable fact – Linda Ikeji’s blog is presently worth much more but we’ll sit and have a drink with the aforementioned figure for the time being.

Bobbi Kristina's brother/boyfriend/husband, Nick Gordon is now the target of a criminal investigation after injuries is found on the body of the 21 year old who was found face down in a bathtub in her home in late January. The TMZ report below;
There is an active criminal investigation underway in Georgia in the Bobbi Kristina case ... it centers on possible foul play and the target is her boyfriend.. TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell us ... Bobbi Kristina had certain injuries that have piqued their interest. We do not know the nature of the injuries. Multiple sources tell TMZ there is a history of violence between Bobbi Kristina and boyfriend Nick Gordon.
We're told police are looking into a possible altercation more than an hour before Bobbi Kristina was found submerged in a bathtub.

May or may not be true but ISIS is claiming female American aide worker who they've been holding hostage for a while, 26 year old Kayla Jean Mueller was killed today February 6th during Jordan's retaliation airstrikes on the group in Northern Syria. ISIS claimed the woman was being held in the building pictured right and shared pics of it's destruction, claiming it was destroyed by Jordan's airstrike
"The failed Jordanian aircraft killed an American female hostage. No mujahid was injured in the bombardment, and all praise is due to Allah.” the group said in a statement released on their site.
ISIS had been demanding $6.6 million for Kayla's release. She's the last American held by the group. Jordan had promised to destroy ISIS and step up airstrikes after the group released the shocking video of the brutal killing of their pilot. Kayla's alleged death hasn't been verified by independent sources.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it will meet with chairmen and secretaries of all registered political parties, and Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs tomorrow Saturday 7th, to decide whether to go ahead with the general elections billed for February 14 and 28.

A statement released by Mr Kayode Idowu, the spokesperson of INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega, states that after the meeting, “the Commission will address a press conference to brief the nation on its decision with regard to whether or not the general elections will hold as currently scheduled”.
