A 23-year-old Nigerian man has been sentenced for stabbing a new father to death in front of his home in Islington, north London, in December last year.
Femi Tinchang Nandap, who had over stayed his student visa pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility at the Old Bailey on Monday, October 10th, 2016, following the fatal stabbing of 41-year-old renowned lecturer Jeroen Ensink, who was a lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

The boss of a company selling home brewery equipment in Tongzhou District, Beijing, China, reportedly forces his 'female' staff to kiss him before resuming for work every morning. The photos which went viral on social media, show the workers line up to kiss him on his lips.

According to reports, although the women were initially reluctant to attend the morning ceremony, almost all of them have since given in to their boss' demand. Only two female staff members absolutely refused and resigned from the company.

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a robbery gang which specialised in snatching bikes from owners in Ogbomosho town, after luring them to deserted areas in the guise of being a passenger. The bike-snatching gang led by a physically-challenged man identified as one Sunday Olojede, aka Oba Aro. According to Crime Reports, 38-year-old Olojede was a terror to motorcycle riders.

Three armed robbers and a mechanic simply identified as Nwamba, lost their lives after a grey colored Hyundai ix 35 with registration number SMK 485 CM which they had earlier stolen, skidded off Eko bridge by Iddo terminus in Lagos and landed on a mechanic who died instantly yesterday October 9th.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was suspected to have been snatched at gun point with five suspected armed persons. Three of the suspected armed robbers died immediately; one escaped with injury while the fifth person was taken to the Hospital for treatment by LASAMBUS.

The Ethopian government on Sunday declared a state of Emergency following months of  violent anti-government protests, especially in the restive Oromia region of the country.
"A state of emergency has been declared because the situation posed a threat against the people of the country," Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn said on state-run television on Sunday.

There was a serious fire incident at the Library Complex, Naraguta Campus, University off Jos on Saturday 8th October, 2016. It affected the Main Library in the Complex, the Faculty of Social Sciences and some Departments in the Faculty of Management Sciences.

Hundreds of African migrants, from Nigeria, Somalia, Eritrea and other sub-Saharan countries, crammed in boats headed for Italy, were rescued in multiple operations on Tuesday.

More than two dozen people were dead in one boat alone, asphyxiated from the crush aboard. In other boats, bodies were splayed on the floorboards, forcing survivors to clamber over the corpses of their fellow voyagers. Over 11,000 migrants rescued in the Mediterranean by aid groups and the Italian Coast Guard this week. See pictures after the cut.

At least 28 bodies have been recovered and more than 4,650 migrants saved in 30 rescue missions off the Libyan coast. Statistics by Italian coast guard, states that the migrants were rescued from 33 boats, including 27 rubber dinghies. The coast guards say the total number of migrants rescued in the last 48 hours is more than 10,000 while the death toll stands at 50. More photos after the cut.

A male paramedic David Lee, 31, has been accused of groping the breasts of his female colleague and having an erection while she fetched kit from their ambulance to treat a patient. The 26-year-old female witness said on Tuesday in court:
“He started to become a bit sleazier and flirtatious as the shift went on.He was like a puppy that always needed attention.  He got some gloves down my top and asked if he could help get them back. I was exhausted.

A newborn abandoned baby girl was rescued by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) near a clinic in Umuahia, Abia State. A letter left by the baby's mother was also recovered. According to Channels TV, the letter said that the baby should not be sold but handed over to motherless babies’ home or any well-meaning Nigerian who can cater for her welfare.
