The Chairman of Enugu state PDP chapter Ikeje Asogwa was today invited for interrogation by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of misappropriation of funds. Sources at the EFCC headquarters say Mr Asogwa, who was an ex MD of the Enugu State Housing Corporation, was invited by the commission to answer questions on missing funds meant for the development of housing units during his tenure with no traces of any house built.

Relations between Zimbabwe and the European Union has not been cordial since 2002 after the European Union imposed sanctions on the Zimbabwean government following allegations of human rights abuses and election rigging.

On Wednesday July 29th, Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe said the US and British embassies paid vendors to stir up trouble in the country.
"These are ambassadors of countries that imposed sanctions on us, so we have said we will kick them out of the country. They do not want to see peace in developing countries.

Popular Yoruba actor, Mufutau Sanni Adio a.k.a Ajigijaga has died. The famed actor died at his residence at Oko-Oba, Agege, Lagos today July 31st following injuries he sustained from a motorcycle (okada) accident two weeks ago. He was aged 60. May his soul rest in peace, amen.

Murder Case
Steven Onowa, a graduate of Federal Polytechnic Oko, hails from Anambra State, was arrested by the Akwa Ibom State police command following the murder of Daniel Bassey Solomon, his close friend and employee.
Steven, who attempted to escape after allegedly butchering his friend a middle aged barber, was apprehended by the members of the police.
The state Police Commissioner, Mr Gabriel Achong, said the culprit has confessed to the crime.
“At about 3.00 a.m, I decided to kill him.
“I gave him the first cut, the guy got up; I gave him a second one and he died and I butchered him to parts,” the suspect confessed.

The man jumped from the crowd at the annual Gay Pride march yesterday and started stabbing people. Six people were injured but fortunately no one died.

A middle-aged woman is currently recuperating in a Lagos hospital, after robbers stormed her rented apartment on the Lagos Island, during which she stabbed one of the assailants to death.

It was learnt that the woman, identified simply as Adenike, and her family were attacked on Tuesday at about 2am on Eyin Iga Street. It was gathered that the robbers, who were armed with knives and cutlasses, reportedly gained entrance into the house after damaging the gates.

President Buhari has said that Nigeria and neighboring countries must stand together to defeat and degrade Boko Haram terrorists in the sub-region. Speaking late Wednesday at a state dinner at the Unity Palace in Yaounde, during his two-day working visit to Cameroon, President Buhari said countries in the sub-region cannot afford to falter in their resolve to get rid of the evils of terrorists.
``We recognize that none of us can succeed alone. In order to win this war we need the collective efforts of each one of us, standing together as a formidable force for good, to defeat and end these acts of terror against our people,’’ he said. The President told guests at the dinner hosted by President Paul Biya that the security situation in the region presented an opportunity for Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin to work together for their common security, peace and socio-economic development.
