When the Police arrived at the house, they said the toddler looked dirty, was covered in red bumps and kept saying she was hungry and at one point told the Police "I need a beer," reports CBS affiliate KOSA.One of he officers who responded to the call said:
"As soon as I entered I was overwhelmed by the filthy state of the apartment," "There were piles of dirty and moldy dishes on the counter, stove, and sink," the police report said. "There was trash on the floor and counter. There were cockroaches absolutely everywhere. The kitchen was in no way sanitary or functional."The girl repeatedly told officers, "I'm hungry," and said, "I need a beer," according to the report.
"I had probable cause to believe that [the little girl] had not been fed, washed, or provided with any type of general medical care or treatment for an unsafe amount of time," the officer wrote.The child was placed with Children's Protective Services and Bennett was arrested and charged with child abandonment on Monday morning in the Lubbock County Detention Center with a $15,000 bond.
