Oscar winner Mahershala Ali shares new photo of his baby daughter, Bari, who was born just four days before his iconic Oscar win

Mahershala Ali won an Oscar award for the Best Supporting Actor for his role in Moonlight, thereby becoming the first Muslim to win an acting Academy Award, but the award is not Ali's best gift; his daughter is. The proud new dad, who welcomed his daughter Bari just four days before he won an Oscar, showed off his precious gift on Instagram.

The 43-year-old Moonlight star posted the black and white photo of him cradling his daughter and captioned it: "Bari x Abu". “Abu” meaning “father” in Arabic. Bari Najma Ali is a month old and she happens to be his first and only child with wife Amatus Sami-Karim. He had earlier shared a photo of the little girl with his wife cradling her, to announce her birth, days after she was born.

Ali has starred in other great movies like Hidden Figures, House of cards, The Hunger Games Saga and more. He met his music producer wife and they fell in love while he studied for his master's degree at New York University in 2000 and they got married in 2013. Ali was raised a Christian but converted to Islam while he was in graduate school after visiting a mosque with his wife and her mother.

The actor had also won a Golden Globe, SAG Award, and Critic's Choice award for best supporting actor.
