7-Year old girl swims to shore after kidnapper choked her and threw her off a bridge

A 7-year old girl from Massachusetts was on Sunday kidnapped from her family's party which was held at her grandparent's home on Forestdale Road.
According to Worcester police, 35-year old Joshua Hubert was a guest at the party.
The 7-year-old, whose name has not been released, was asleep in a chair around 2:30 am when, police say, Hubert grabbed her and put her in a car.

Police reported that Hubert then allegedly choked the little girl, then threw her into Lake Quinsigamond, thinking she was dead.
After the girl was tossed over the side, police said, “she survived the drop and swam to shore.” A fall from the bridge could be fatal. A 19-year-old man who jumped from there in 2012 died
Fortunately, at about 4 am , she swam to the shore of Shrewsbury, where she got help after she knocked on the door of a home. The homeowners called the Police.
When police first encountered the 7-year-old girl around, she was soaking wet, bruised around the neck and still wearing her pajamas.
They quickly took her to the Children's hospital where it was found that she had visible, but non- life threatening injuries. She had contusions on her leg and wrists, and marks on her neck consistent with being choked??????????????????????
Hubert was promptly arrested and was arraigned on Monday. He is currently being held without bail.
Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early, expressed a huge relief, saying a greater tragedy was averted .
"The young victim had the strength to make it to shore and get help. I want to thank the resident who answered the door and helped the girl."
Police have not detailed what was going on at the cookout in the moments leading up to the incident. The Department of Children and Families is investigating, Paul Jarvey, a spokesman for the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, said.
