A suicide attack on a police station in the western Algerian
city of Tiaret kill a police officer Thursday
when he threw himself on a suicide bomber before the attacker’s explosives belt
detonated, state media said, citing the police department.
Officials did not immediately confirm details of the attack.
The officer had intervened when the attacker tried to enter
the police headquarters in the region of Tiaret, about 350 kilometres (220
miles) southwest of the capital Algiers, the official APS news agency reported
