Just
when prospective students are about sitting for this year’s Unified
Tertiary Matriculation Exam that would secure them admission into
Nigerian universities, the National Universities Commission, NUC, has
rated the University of Ibadan, UI, first among its peers in Nigeria.
Other
first generation universities in the NUC’s latest 2015 ranking are the
University of Lagos coming second, University of Benin: third, Obafemi
Awolowo University: fourth and the Ahmadu Bello University: fifth.
The
ranking indicated that the University of Ilorin is sixth, University of
Jos: seventh, University of Port Harcourt: eighth, University of
Maiduguri: ninth, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta: 10th,
Lagos State University: 11th, Federal University of Technology, Owerri:
12th, while the Covenant University came 13th.
A report published by The Tribune on Friday indicates that the
University of Nigeria, Nsukka was ranked 14th, Federal University of
Technology, FUTA (15th), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, (16th), Enugu State
University of Science and Technology (17th), Pan African University
(18th) Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH (19th), Modibbo
Adama University of Technology, Yola (20th).
